3 days til new year...

This year had turned out great for me. However, it didn't started out with a bang.

Patience was part of my 2007 dictionary of life, without which I would not have been where I am right now. Trust me, it DOES pay to be patient. You just have to believe in yourself and keep moving forward. Insyaallah, the reward will come, sometimes in many different ways.

2007 is (was) the year that I had jumped from being an English assistant (with a RM5/hour pay) to being a low-paid exec then to being an assistant manager in less than 9 months. And now I'm jumping again, to a better position and pay (and working environment, insyaallah) in another company. I owe it all to 'Patience' and 'Perseverance', the two words that I have been chanting like mantras throughout the year.

2007 is (was) also the year where I have put a full-stop to my CIMA exams. I've finally passed the exam after struggling with it for the past 4 years! Repeating the same paper for the last 5 sitting was not fun at all. Especially when you found out that you've failed the paper with a marginal fail time and time again. However, now I can proudly say that I am an ACMA, and I didn't call it quits even after failing 4 times in a row.

This year had also been the year when I've finally changed my status in Friendster (hahaha) from 'single' to 'in a relationship' (poyo... yeah i know!). It has been a great year, relationship wise. I do hope that the happiness will be carried forward into 2008 and many years after that, insyaallah.

So, that's my recap for 2007. What about yours?

binx: happy new year everyone!

Malam Bulan Dipagar Bintang...

Malam bulan dipagar bintang
Makin indah jika dipandang
Bagai gadis beri senyuman
Pada bujang idaman

Duhai kasih ingin dimanja
Dengan cumbuan mesra
Untuk pelipur lara
Penawar dik asmara

Mmm.. mmm...
Mmm.. mmm...

Malam bulan dipagar bintang
Tambah seri cuaca malam
Murni sungguh ciptaan Tuhan
Bulan bintang lampu alam

Andai kata bintang menyepi
Bulan tidak berseri
Malam menjadi sunyi
Tidak berseri lagi

Title: Malam Bulan Dipagar Bintang
Lyrics: P Ramlee

It's a bright night outside. The sky is clear and the full moon is shinning.

It makes the night complete... It leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling to go to sleep with....

Goodnight everyone (or should I say good morning?)

2 more days to freedom

1st of all.....

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO REPLY TO ALL YOUR COMMENTS??? IS BLOGGER GOING BONKERS ON ME?

Anyways, thanks for all your comments.. I shall try my best to stick to the next job for at least a year... hehehe...

So, with all the hoopla going around, I have managed to get my boss to approve all my outstanding leaves until my last day. Hence, I have been taking days off since last week! As of today, I only have 2 more working days and my last day is next Wednesday....

What have I been doing since then?

- Went up to Genting with my future BIL and SIL for a day... It's the school holiday and I thought it was the best time to start the "bonding" process. Bila lagi kan? hehehehe...

- Went hunting for materials for baju kawin along Jalan TAR with mom... phewh... Nak tercabut kaki ok... Tuh pun still have yet to find THE kain...

- Been receiving calls for interviews from another Group of companies. Since I shall be on leave tomorrow (Tuesday), I have scheduled 2 interview sessions with 2 different companies. Even though I have received the offer from Company X, everyone kept on advising me to attend the interviews just to test my market. I know it is greedy of me to do so.. but what the heck.. :)

Things to do tomorrow:-

- go for interview #1 at 10 am in Subang
- lunch with Mrs Wacko (*sob* *sob* she's leaving for the States soon *sob* *sob*)
- go for a full medical check-up for Company X's
- go for interview #2 at 5 pm in KL

Do you think I can manage to do all those in 1 day? We shall see...

binx: happy birthday, mr judge!! love ya lots, dear...!

Nothing's gonna change my world....

Have you seen 'Across the Universe' yet?
If you haven't, go watch it soon. Especially if you are a Beatles fan... The soundtrack is so cool!

~~~~~~~~~~~
I received an unexpected phone call from Uncle Singh, my previous mentor from Company X 2 weeks ago. He knew that I was with the Orang Cina Bukan Cina Bank and had offered me a job with the old company (under a different subsidiary). He was very persistent and it was really hard to reject his offer as it was a very interesting offer. So I had accepted it instantly.
I have submitted my resume the next day and was told that 'my application' was accepted by the CEO of the company. I didn't have to attend any interviews as the boss, a.k.a Uncle Singh knows me well enough to know that I am fit for the position he had offered me. Plus, I have already worked for the company for 3 years before I decided to venture else where... So, they already know me pretty well.
The next thing I know, I was having a one-to-one conversation with my current boss, letting her know of my intention to leave. Surprise.. surprise.... According to her, the department head had planned to have a 'chat' with me the next day to discuss about a promotion. It seems that my boss had given me a very high performance rating and even the AVP and VP had vouched on it. Hence, since my team is going to be involved with lots of new project next year, they needed to have a co-section head... and that person was suppose to be ME! Imagine that... I would have created a record for being the 1st Malay to be a section head for the department... and the 1st person to jump from the AM position to a Manager position within 3 months. I would have been at the same level as my boss and would have a 40% salary adjustment.... cool eh?
However, I had to reject the offer as the other offer (from Company X) was far too tempting for me to let go.
Orang cakap, rezeki orang nak kawin.... Alhamdulillah...
So I shall be back in Jalan Raja Chulan as of 2nd of January 2008. No... I won't be working under Aunty Beast & Zorro... I won't be on the same floor as both of them... Let's just hope that I don't even have to liaise with them at all.
500th post & 3 years of blogging...!
It has been 3 years!
I didn't think that I'd last this long.
I have come a long way since I started this confession blog. And I have poured most of my life stories here for the past 3 years just to express/share them with someone. Oh how I miss updating this blog.................. Damn firewall @ the office and unstable streamyx @ home!!!
Will definitely update more often soon, as I shall be regaining my internet freedom @ work again in a month's time (more details in the next post). Until then, I shall try to update every other day, if the connection permits (streamyx sucksssss).
To readers who have been following this confession space, thanks for hopping by.
There's a whole in the world tonight...
If at first you don't succeed
Dust yourself off and try again
You can dust it off and try again
-Aaliyah - Try Again
Last weekend was my graduation day. Finally I have "the" scroll in my hand. The surge of joy of obtaining it is just too hard to describe. It is a great feeling when you have finally completed something that you have set your mind on to accomplish for a very long time. Now I am satisfied with myself and I can move on with other things that life has to offer.
One good thing that came out of last weekend was that I had managed to rub shoulders with the CEO of one of Malaysia's renowned company. Apparently he was my mom's classmate during her university years. And the best part was that he had handed me his business card and said "Send me your resume!"... :D
Which would you prefer, someone who sulks and angers easily or someone who tries to stay cheerful and makes you smile most of the time?
It is hard and I AM trying my best...
Hari Raya for Bibik - Part V
Assalamuaalaikum & Salam Sejahtera buat semua pembaca belog ini.
Lebaran tiba lagi tahun ini. Tetapi kali ini mungkin Bibik tidak menjalankan tugas Bibik seperti dahulu kala karna Bibik terlalu sibuk dengan kerja di kantor dan juga karna Ibuk tidak percaya kepada Bibik untuk memasak hidangan juadah raya pada tahun ini. Ibuk telah 'single handedly' menyiapkan segala juadah untuk hari lebaran tahun ini. Bibik hanya nolong menyental kuali dan periuk nya sahaja.
Pada pandangan Bibik, lebaran kali ini tidak begitu meriah. Mungkin karna Bibik tidak pulang beraya ke kampung dan hanya beraya di hadapan TV. Mungkin juga karna Bibik tidak dapat pergi bersama sembahyang pada pagi raya karna Bibik telah mendapat "red flag" pada malam raya. Mungkin juga karna pacar Bibik juga tiada untuk kunjung ke rumah karna dia terpaksa berkerja pada pagi raya pertama dan kedua (Bangla di kantor minyak pun dapat cuti tau).
Jadi hanya pada hari raya pertama sahaja Bibik agak ribut untuk membasuh pinggan di dapur serta melayan tetamu yang hadir. Nasib baik baju raya sempat Bibik sarung. Jadi dapat juga lah Bibik kelihatan 'vogue' sambil menyental pinggan di dapur... :)
Pada hari raya kedua, Bibik serta keluarga hanya bersantai dihadapan TV sahaja. Bukan melayan program raya pun... Kami lebih asyik mengikuti perkembangan Angkasawan negara, Dr yang sangat gantang itu di TV. Waduh waduh... Bangga sungguh Bibik pabila melihat Dr yang gantang itu muncul di hadapan kamera pabila dia sampai ke stesen angkasa lepas antarabangsa itu. Ada juga anak Malaysia yang berjaya sampai ke angkasa lepas kan. Bibik kagum... Bibik kagum...
Pada awalnya, Bibik sekeluarga merancang untuk melawat keluarga pacar Bibik pada hari raya ketiga. Tetapi pada awal pagi nya itu, kami menerima SMS dari bapak Bibik yang mengatakan bahawa nenek Bibik di Johor sedang sakit tenat dan menyuruh kami pulang segera. Jadi terpaksalah Bibik melupakan hajat untuk merasa laksa johor buatan 'future MIL' Bibik karna terpaksa pulang ke kampung.
Setibanya kami di kampung, kami melihat keadaan nenek tidaklah seteruk yang disampaikan. Pabila adik Bibik (ala... ingat nggak kepada Biju..?) curik2 memeriksa talipon bimbit bapaknya, dia terjumpa satu pesanan bapak kepada adiknya yang menyatakan bahawa dia ingin men'trick' anak2 nya ini untuk pulang ke kampung dengan menyatakan bahawa nenek mereka sakit tenat. Sungguh menyirap darah Bibik, Biju dan Cik Puan pada masa itu. Kami tidak sangka yang bapak kami sanggup menipu sebegitu rupa hanya untuk menyuruh kami pulang ke kampung. Jadi, tidak panas lagi punggung kami di kerusi, kami terus meminta izin untuk berangkat pulang. Itu pun selepas meng'confirm'kan yang nenek tidak sakit teruk. Bibik rasa kami duduk di dalam mobil lagi lama (ya ampun.... banyak sungguh mobil di jalanan waktu kami pulang ke Kuala Lumpur).
Begitulah cerita nya lebaran Bibik pada tahun ini. Ianya tidak lah semeriah lebaran-lebaran yang sudah. Tetapi Bibik masih lagi bersyukur karna dapat merayakan nya pada tahun ini bersama keluarga. Ini mungkin raya terakhir Bibik sebagai 'ms bibik' insyaallah. Jadi kena lah Bibik meng'fully utilise' nya sebaik mungkin.
Bagaimanakah lebaran kalian pula?
Confession of a newly appointed Charted Accountant
First of all, I just would like to say...
Woooohooooooo.................!
I've made it!
I've made it!
Alhamdulillah
However, the process of obtaining the title was not an easy one. It was really TOUGH... I have invested a lot of time, money and tears to get this far.
Unlike any other accounting bodies, CIMA requires their passed finalist to actually submit a career resume and attend an optional face-to-face assessment before they can be selected as an associate member. Thus, I had to fork out GBP113 (equivalent to almost RM800) and come up with a 15 pages of career profile write-up before I was able to attend the assessement this morning.
Luckily I have a very supportive and loving boyfriend who had pushed and encouraged me to apply for the assessment. I didn't want to pay out so much just for an hour assessment and to be told that I was not qualified to become a member.... RUGI! However, I gave in and started to build up hope that maybe there is a chance...
So I began to bullshit my way to come up with a 15 pages write-up. It was horrible I tell you... as I was not really focusing on sentence structures and grammar. I was just trying to compile everything that I had done throughout my service with my previous companies. Thank God Mr Judge offered to edit the write-up for me. And that was how we ended up spending our nights @ Starbucks for the last few days, with me bullshitting my way through the pages and him trying to make my bullshits sound more presentable.
This morning, as I walked through the door of the CIMA office, I sensed that it was not going to be a smooth sailing day for me. First, I was asked to amend by career summary as I had over-counted the number of time spent for few of my attachments with my previous employers. I had double counted the time when I had held 2 work portfolios at once. Thus, I had to re-do the entire thing, canceling off the one that I had nicely prepared (siap color printed lagi OK).
During my assessment, the assessor gave me the impression that I was not going to make it this time around due to the fact that most of my experience had focused on financial accounting areas instead of management accounting. I had a tough time trying to convince him that I was a qualified candidate and I should be admitted as a member. I was really disappointed when he asked me to be prepared for a second assessor to bombard me with more questions as he was not confident that I should be admitted as a member. I left the interview room with tears in my eyes.... I really don't want to go through the whole process again!
When they called out my name 15 minutes later, I was ready to receive the bad news, as the mat salleh's face didn't look quite happy when he called out my name. However, imagine my surprise when he said, "I have some good news for you.. You've made it through and you are now an ACMA!". I really wanted to cry there and then, but I've managed to get a hold of myself and later cried in the car on my way back home.
So, I've made it here... What now?
Long time no write...
I have been blogging in my head the whole week. Every time I see something interesting or an interesting idea came to mind, I made a promise to update it in this blog as soon as I get home. However, the only thing that I have managed to do when I got home was zzz.......
So, what was it that I wanted to update about? Hmmm... let me see...
1. I have managed to master reading a book while standing in a crowded LRT... after only 1 week!! woohooo... ! (hahaha... I really had to find something to focus on besides looking at uninteresting faces day in day out)
2. I really can't tolerate those people that stuck earphones into their ears to listen to their favourite songs and also sharing it with the entire people in the train as well. I get to listen to various kinds of music every morning without asking for it. The best part was when this one dude, who happens to portray a very cool image, shared with me and the rest of the people in the LRT his collection of dangdut music. Yes.... I kid you not.... I swear it was dangdut. Even the makcik that was standing opposite me was making weird faces when she heard bits and pieces of the melody that came out of his earphone. The dude was moving his head (banging up and down) as if he was listening to the latest R&B or rock tunes... muahahahha.... Very the funny ok...
3. So the 3rd season of Prison Break is back and it is getting more intense by the minute. I thought the creative team of the show would have run out ideas by now. I was wrong! The show is better than ever. Go download it now...! And while you are at it, if you are a Grey's Anatomy fans, go and download the 1st episode of the 4th season as well.. It is going to be another interesting season...
4. Things are getting tougher on the work front. There are more things to learn and master in so little time. However, it is good to finally be recognised for something that you are good at. Just hope that better things will be in store for me in the future. Insyaallah.
5. I have been cracking my head to fill 15 pages of bulls***s for my career profile that I am suppose to submit next Sunday during the face-to-face CIMA membership assessment. I have only filled 1 page so far and I am running out of ideas on what to bulls*** about. HELP!!!
Another long, tough week is awaiting... Hope all of you (if you are still reading this blog) have a great week ahead.
Crazy week...
With all the buzzing news about the discovery of Nurin's body to all the political mumbo-jumbo on the news, there were lots of things to talk about over the week, especially when you were trying to make small talks with your new colleagues.
So, I have survived my 1st week at the new office. It has been one rough week indeed. And no, it was not rough due to the LRT issue. That was just the beginning.
When I accepted the job offer, I was forewarned that it is going to be a demanding position that will require me to stay back every now and then. However, I was not prepared to be asked to stay back on my 2nd day on the job till the end of the week!!! Gone was the thought of having a home-cooked buka puasa meal with my family. I even had to make do with just a mug of coffee and a handful of biscuits aje last Friday because there was so much things to do as our department was shifting location on that particular day.
Hence, I have been going back home at 9 p.m. (the latest time out so far) since Tuesday. And I have been going to bed as early as 10.30 p.m. daily!! That's a record breaking time for me as I am known for being a 'burung hantu' every night. Rasa dah macam takde life lar pulak...
Luckily Mr Judge is working this weekend. If not for sure this weekend sibuk klua dating. Now I can recharge my energy for next week. I have a feeling it is going to be another loooooong week (month end closing reports!!!).
How was your week?
Confession of an LRT Virgin...
Well, today was not my first time taking the LRT. However, it was my first time taking the LRT during peak hours.
Imagine my horror when I saw the sardine-packed train this morning. There was no room to even breathe. However, since I had no choice but to squeeze myself in or be late on my very 1st day, I took a deep breath and plunged into the train without any hesitation.
I had barely enough space to stand comfortably. And the minah standing beside me still had time to pull out her Malay novel, oblivious to her surrounding, and started reading, while trying to maintain her balance at the same time. I wonder how she did that. Maybe it came with daily practice eh...
*****
It was already 6.15 p.m. when I stepped down into the LRT terminal. There I was thinking that the crowd must have died down by that time since most of the offices let their staff go off early during Ramadhan. Oh, was I wrong... !
When the train came, the people, who had queued obediently at first, turned into monsters and started to pushed and squeezed themselves into the jammed-packed train. I was pushed from the front-back-left-right. Even the hot, delicious karipap that I was carrying got squashed during that ordeal. Sedey tau....
At one point of time during the train ride, I felt something poking into my butt. It caught me by surprised and I was really paranoid that someone might have taken advantage of the situation and got "excited". Luckily, it was just a PVC sling bag that a kakak was carrying and NOT someone's "thing". Horror nyeee laaa...
*sigh*
I really salute you guys that had been taking the train to and from work. How did you do it?
Things are looking good now...
I hope...
Went for an interview (twice!) last week. And finally got the call yesterday saying that they want me to come on board by next monday! whooopeee!!
Handed in my resignation letter without any hesitation. One week notice is sufficient enough as the new company said that it was very cheap for them to just buy me off from the current company.
No more working odd hours!!! That means I can berbuka puasa with my family and friends. Yipeee...!!
Upside down
What does it say about the management of a department or a company when 7 out of 11 people in one team resigned in one month?
Well, that was what happened to my team in August and early September.
Everything is going downhill now as the original members of the team that had undergone the 2 months solid training in the UK had tendered their resignation last month. They were not satisfied with the way the upper management handles the team. Their voices were not heard. They were over-worked and under-paid. Hence, when a rival bank, who just started up a new department and needed skilled workers offered to double their current pay, they jumped without any hesitation.
So now, from a newbie, I became one of the senior members of the team. I was put in charged to train the new trainees, as how my seniors had trained me.
I wish I could resign as well. However, after submitting my resumes everywhere, there is still no luck in securing a job *sigh*. Just hope that after being accepted as an associate member of CIMA (in October, I hope!), the job offer will start coming my way.
As for now, I have to settle with working for more than 12 hours a day and earning peanuts.
binx: back to sending out resumes!
I've been 'spied'...
So after all the hassle of preparing for 'the day' for the past one week, I have officially been 'spied' (bak kata orang Melayu, dirisik)...
It was a simple ceremony, ermm ala cowboy pun ada jugak... Everything was so laid back that it didn't even feel like a merisik ceremony, more like a family gathering.
The attack of the pissed-off binx...
What happens when you had less than 5 hours sleep and had over-worked yourself for more than 12 hours the day before?
On top of that, you were hungry cause you were trying to ganti your puasa (before the next round of puasa starts) and your VP started to pass around a huge box of chocolates (with lots and lots of Snickers in it) from London.
Apart from that, some annoying bitch (pardon my french) from the London office kept shooting you emails every minute (total emails sent for the day was 30 in the last 5 hours), trying to show that she's THE BOSS, and instructing you to do stuffs that does not even relate to her line of work.
Furthermore, there was this new so-called boss, who is trying to out-do the existing boss and kept bossing everyone around to show that he is in charge. However, he kept doing stupid things like switching off the power socket that was connected to your CPU while you were busy sorting out the impending tasks. The best part was, that stupid action of his had caused all your systems that you had running before to block your access after you had restart your PC. And that had pushed you back at least for a good 30 minutes of trying to email the IT support of unblock your access. Mind you, he did not even utter the word "sorry"!!! *tarik rambut X 1000*
Pressure!
Pressure!
So, you had no choice but to ROAR....!!
Everyone was shocked when the usual cheerful Binx turned into a Lion...
Today is a bank holiday...
In the UK...
So, I'm on hols today!! Yippeee...!!! (Don't envy me cause we don't get Merdeka day off.. ).
I've had quite a hectic weekend.
Finally got to watch Ratatouille on Saturday. It was great.. I've always love PIXAR's animated movie... Comel giler...
Went and tawaf (walk in circles for more than once) One Utama shopping for clothes, for me and esp for Mr Judge. We went into the fitting room with me holding 4 tops, and him with more than 5 tops (I think there were 7 kut). I came out and purchased 3 out 4 tops that I've tried. But he was not satisfied with all the tops that he had tried out. Hmmppfff... And my ultimate mission was to GET him to buy new tops. I've failed... Sungguh keciwa...
We also went around looking for rings. I didn't know that it was really hard to shop for one simple ring. I thought it would only require us to walk into a shop, and just pick out one ring, pay and walk out. NO, it was not THAT simple. We went into 5 stores (from One Utama to The Curve), and the only ring that I like (which was not a plain band/cincin belah rotan) was 2 sizes bigger (yeah... jari kering, susah nak carik cincin). So, the girl had to take down my contact details so that she can get back to me by today after calling all other outlets and their HQ to check if my size was available. Penat giler ok...
After our 6 hours shopping expedition, we headed straight to our dinner destination to feast ourselves with CRABS!!! We were joined by the rest of my family members. I had to argue with the waiter, who had insisted that we only order 3 crabs for the 10 of us... Orang tengah kempunan giler nak makan ketam, dia suruh order 3 ekor aje.. MANA CUKUP! I insisted that that was not going to be enough and ordered 6 instead. The waiter, dengan muka tak puas hati, took our orders. And as if he wanted to prove his point, he served the crabs last, when everyone had polished off their rice and all the other dishes on the table. Dengki sungguh itu mamat. However, I've managed to polish it all in one sitting, with the help from the others laa kan. It was SUPERB! Sampai menjilat jari you...
Sunday was another hectic day. Had to get up early and drive down to Melaka for a family obligation. I hope I won't get any tickets on the highway cause I was driving at 160 km/hr the whole way (to and fro).
In the late afternoon, we had dragged my cousin, who used to work as a Manager with one of the renown jewelery brand in M'sia, to one of the outlet in KL. There was another session of trying out thousands of rings (ok I've exaggerated too much there... hehehe). I've tried on countless rings to the extend that my knuckles had redden and I felt some burning sensation every time I tried on a ring. Finally, after 40 minutes of browsing through the store, we found 'the ring' that fits my keding finger and also Mr Judge's budget. However, it was not a cincin belah rotan... hehehe.. Nak buat camne.. I have an expensive taste. Luckily my cousin managed to get quite a hefty discount for it. If not memang lari budget. So the ring problem was settled.
Met up with my TTDI school buddies for dinner @ TGIF, The Curve. It was a great makan-makan session, as always, with all the updates and interesting topics being discussed over the juicy, tender beef ribs and mocha mud pie. I polished all the plates without any hesitation. I surprised myself for being able to wipe it all clean without Mr Judge's help. Like I said in my previous entry, I have been on an eating frenzy for the past few days. Kalau tak gemuk jugak lepas nieh tak tau laa nak cakap apa... Thanks for the dinner babes... I truly enjoyed every bite of it all.. :D
So today is another full day. Need to do a few rounds of laundry, go pay summons, look for a gift to 'balas' for the ring, do another round of shopping, pay off all the loans and credit cards, and prepare the house for the upcoming weekend. That's A LOT of stuffs to complete in one day. We'll see how far I can get it all completed by the end of the day ya.
Will update more soon.
Celebration - Part II
I have been on an eating frenzy for the past few days. Maybe it was due to the vitamins that I have been consuming after being discharged from the hospital. However, I think the cravings had started way before I got sick.
The week before my birthday, I had this urge to eat ikan terubuk bakar, thanks to her blog post. Hence, I've made plans with Mr Judge to go get some on my day off, which was suppose to be last Wednesday. But the plan had to be put on hold. Craving tetap ada ok..
Yesterday, at about 12 a.m. I had this sudden urge to eat crabs. I dunno what had got into me. The vision of chili crabs just came into mind and I went online just to check out places that serves 'em, besides Fatty Crabs (Mom just refuse to dine there). So, plans have been made for Saturday. Yipeee....
Tonight (Tuesday), my two best buddies took me out for a Brazillian BBQ dinner at Carnaval Churrascaria in Damansara Jaya. I have been warned to come with an empty stomach, since the place serves the meat buffet style. All you can eat meat buffet for RM48++. There were few kinds of beef, lamb cutlets, lamb shoulder, chicken, chicken ham, sausages, fish fillet and even prawns - all served hot straight from the skillet into your plate. Memang sedap and we ate sampai dah tak boleh sumbat perut baru stopped. Thanks again, girls!!! *hugs*
So, there'll be no more celebration until Saturday. I start work again tomorrow (Wednesday) *sigh*. My colleagues had been calling me everyday, asking when am I coming to work because the work load is piling up.
Can I not go?
Can I ask for more MCs?
Can I? Can I?
Tangan I yang bengkak2 sebab nurse bodo tak gheti cucuk IV pun tak baik lagi...... :(
Celebration - Part I
I don't want to go into the details of my traumatic experience at the hospital. That will only irritate me even more. Hence, lets just fast forward to the 1st celebration post - The Spa Treat!
Since my last whiny post, my two best buddies decided to treat me for a spa on my birthday. Yippedy doo laa rite... Sapa tanak... :D
I was suppose to go for the treatment last Wednesday. However, since the whole viral fever episode only ended last Saturday, I can only make it to the Spa today.
I didn't know that the most-talked-about spa was actually the bungalow where my old kindergarten used to be. As I walked up the steep driveway, I saw the exact same spot where I fell, 22 years ago. That was the spot where I had gotten the scar that is still visible on my right hand.
The treatment room where the whole massage-lulur-milk bath took place used to be the music room. That was the room where I learn the words to all the nursery rhymes and other childhood folk songs. However, the current spa owner had done a great job with the interior decor as it was really convenient to have everything in one room, yet still remains spacious.
The hair treatment room, where the cream bath (the best treatment I've had so far... 2 thumbs up!!) takes place used to be the classroom/playroom/reading room. I remembered the time when the teacher gave each of us a space on the wall to draw a mural and I drew a dark brown girl with pink shirt and blue skirt and wrote my name above it... sungguh tak creative masa tuh... hahahaha...
All in all, it was a blissful 4-hour session. I definitely will go back to that place for another visit once I get another break soon. For those who wants to check it out, get the address and contact details here.
Thanks girls for one of the best presents I've had this year... Am looking forward to dinner with you guys tomorrow night! *muahsss*
Birthday? What birthday?
I turned 28 last Wednesday.
How I celebrated my birthday this year?
Well, the plan was:-
Take the day off work and...
1. go feast myself on ikan terubuk bakar @ Jln Bellamy for lunch (dah lama kempunan)
2. go for a pampering session at the spa for a few hours
3. go shopping with Mr. Judge
4. dinner @ Victoria Station
That was a great plan. If it were executed, that is.
However, my fever didn't go away in time for me to celebrate. In fact, it had gotten worse on that day that Mom decided to take me to the hospital instead.
So, how did I celebrate my birthday this year?
1. went to the hospital
2. got my blood checked
3. got hooked-up to the IV
4. got to spend numerous hours lying on the cold 'sempit' bed of the emergency ward
happy birthday to me.... *sob* *sob*
happy birthday to me.... *sob* *sob* *sob*
Presents?
Let's see:-
1. pills
2. more pills
3. a slip saying that my blood platelet was below norm (so I had to get my blood checked again the next day - the day I got admitted)
However, my phone didn't stop ringing and the sms'es kept coming in even way after midnight. Thanks for those that had called and sms'ed. Am sorry if I didn't get to reply all your sms'es and return all your missed calls due to the fact that I was in the hospital for the past few days and was very weak. But I really do appreciate your thoughts and wishes. Thanks!
Why I HATE being sick...
I can't eat anything (without feeling nauseous)
I can't sleep (without having to wake-up every single hour in the night)
I can't face the computer for more than 30 minutes (without getting a splitting headache)
I can't take the meds coz I don't have any food in my tummy.
If I do take the meds on an empty tummy, then I'll get gastric attacks.
Just hope that the fever will get better by tomorrow, because I have an interviewer to impress. And a spa session to enjoy on Wednesday (hopefully!).
And we didn't know...
A colleague called in sick yesterday, which was weird because he was all fine and dandy the previous day.
No one suspected anything and we continued on with our demanding daily task.
At around lunch time (7 p.m. local time), he called our AM to inform the AM that he won't be able to come for the next few days. Upon hearing that, the AM asked him what was wrong with him. Was he sick? What kind of illness did he contracted?
At first he was beating around the bush and did not want to explain. However, after some coaxing from the AM, he decided to come clean. Apparently, his wife was in labour.
WIFE!!!
All of us didn't even know that he was married (he is only 24 and is very quiet and timid). And now he was informing us that he was about to become a dad. WOW! The news came as a shock to the whole team.
It was not so bad for me, as I have only known him for the last 3 months. However, the rest of them had worked alongside him for the past one year! The best part was, all this while, they had been trying to match him up with every new girl that joined the team.
Well at least the news brought some excitement to our daily mundane life in the dead town of Cyberjaya.
Congrats on the birth of your new baby girl, dude!
Free! Free!
Nothing is free anymore... Everything has a price to it.
So when I heard that Mr Judge's dad had got a call saying that he had won a Naza Citra I was very skeptical about it. Nevertheless, I agreed to follow him to the office of the company that was giving the gift away the next day, just to feast my curiosity.
The office was located in a very secluded row of shophouses, somewhere in Rawang. As soon as we stepped into the office, I knew that it was a scam.
How I know?
1. The reception area was only filled with one run down table and lots and lots of plastic chairs (ala... yang macam kerusi kat kenduri kawin tuh...)
2. The faces of the people there doesn't reflect any aura of professionalism (muka macam mamat pecah rumah pun ada)
We were then ushered into a meeting room that consist of one small table and few more plastic chairs. I tried my best not to let the first impression to affect my judgment. So I gave the girl a chance to explain the whole procedure and everything.
She said that her company was giving away 10 Naza Citra this year in order to avoid from paying a high tax return. Hence, since they are an electronic component supplier, they have pre-selected few customers (with clean credit background) that had purchased home electronic products over the past few years . That was how Mr. Judge's dad got selected (whipeee! yeah rite...)
So what they needed the selected winners to do is simple. The company will issue 2 receipts (1 for the company to keep, and another for the winner to retain) that cannot be duplicated (meaning tak boleh photostat lar - I really don't get this part. When I asked why can't they just give us a duplicated copy of the receipt, the girl said "Sapa-sapa pun boleh photostat receipt"). The company will need the winner's copy of the receipt back after a few weeks upon the receipt of the Naza Citra. So, to ensure that the receipt will be intact and not be misplaced by the winner, the winner needed to put a collateral of RM7,650 (hah! that's the catch).
Kejap... Kejap... Belum habis lagi.
In order to prove to the winner that the company was not going to cheat, they will give another free gift on top of the free Naza Citra. Upon agreeing to the terms, the winner gets to select one envelope out of 6 prizes, that consist of one Perodua Kenari, One Virago bike, RM13k worth of jeweleries, RM11k worth of home theater system and RM9k cash. If you pick one, you get to bring back the gift on the very same day!!!
Best tuh...!
Being the typical accountant that I am, I started deducing in my head. Should the company be in a position to reduce its tax payable for the year, it must have generated quite a high profit. However, how come the office that we were in looked very shabby? Can't the company spend some of the profit to upgrade its office with new furnitures and fixtures? That will surely reduce its tax payable by increasing its capital allowance. Haaa... kan dah masuk all the technical terms.
Apart from that, the file that the girl was using was all torn up and dirty. Very the unprofessional. There was no official letter issued out to the winners with an official signatory. When I asked for the company's license, all of them looked at each other and paused. One of them went out to retrieve it from somewhere. When asked how come it was only a photostated copy of the license (with no "certified true copy" stamp on it), she said "Takkan lar nak tunjuk yang original. Yang original dah frame and gantung kat dinding". Then I rephrased what she told me earlier, "Tadi you sendiri cakap, sapa-sapa pun boleh buat photostated copy...". Senyap aje semua.
At that point of time, I really wanted to walk out of the office and just forget all about it. However, Mr. Judge, being a typical male, thought that it was a win-win thing. He said that even if he pays the RM7k and gets one of the 6 prizes and not get the Naza Citra in the end, he will still make profit out of it. But that is IF he gets one of the 6 prizes lar kan. What if tak dapat? Pening kepala aje dapat kan.
I advised him to go home and just google the company up and see if there's any related forum regarding the company. I was very sure that it was a scam. And I was right. Never trust MEGA INTOP SDN BHD!!! Read it here and here.
So, what I am trying to say here is that NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE.
And one more thing....
always...
always...
always...
I am so tired!!
My body's aching.
My back hurts.
My shoulders are sore.
And I just don't have the energy to do anything anymore.
Maybe it's the odd working hours that have caused me to become like this.
Maybe it's the amount of work that was forced upon me at the office (one person can only do so much).
Maybe it's a sign that age is catching up with me.
All I need now is a full body massage and lots and lots of self-pampering at a spa.
The day my butt freezes...
What happens when you have very little sleep for over 2 days?
You become disoriented and it is hard for you to concentrate on even the easiest thing like reading emails - all 500 of them.
I was a wreck for the past 2 days for not getting enough sleep and over-working myself at work. It was a nightmare even trying to get myself to work. Penat sangat...
So, there I was, sitting on the toilet throne, trying to get myself together after the big group lunch.. eh.. silap.. dinner. I reached for the hose to clean up and pressed the the handle and my pee pee didn't get wet. So I pressed the handle again. Nothing...!
Then I realised that the handle was faced the other way around and, all the while, I have been spraying water on my pants!!!!!!
That was how I ended up with a freezing butt for the rest of the night in the freaking cold department.
It's a bright night... outside...
The moon is shining brightly outside my window...
However, it is tad gloomy inside...
Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's a sign that the hormone is due for another imbalance cycle soon. Maybe it's nothing at all.
Baaaah.... I think too much...!
But that's just me. I am a thinker.. I am a planner.
I plan things out. I seldom do things unplanned, at least not the big things in my life. However, it is hard to plan things when you don't know the details. You can't plan something as big as this alone. It's just impossible.
Nevertheless, you don't want to be pushy nor eager to plan things out. Not when every conversations leading to it will always be diverted into some other meaningless topics.
Well, I get the point, so I didn't pushed.
But what can a planner like me do in a situation like this? Go on planning alone? Abandon the thought and plan something else instead? Or just don't plan anything at all?
I just wished that ... aaah nevermind!
I'm just asking too much... I know...
Of weddings and elevators
I have attended an old friend's wedding last Saturday at one of the renowned hotel in KL. It was really a grand wedding with all the detailed decors and settings.
Despite the small portion of food served (it was a 5-course fusion meal), we still thought that it was all fine and dandy. Until we stepped into the car park elevator....
There was 10 of us when we stepped into the elevator. Then it stopped at B1 and another person stepped in. And suddenly, halfway through to the other floor, B2, it suddenly paused and the alarm was triggered with the "overloaded" light blinking in red.
What the lar rite... Isn't the alarm suppose to be triggered before the door even closes? Plus, there was only 12 of us when the sign clearly stated that the maximum capacity was 13 pax with 900kg.
So, the man who was manning the buttons (whom I noted to be one of the VVIP guests from the same wedding) had pressed the intercom button to ask for help. Being a reputable hotel, I would have expected the person on the other side of the intercom to be more courteous and helpful. However, it took them forever to update us on the situation.
Being stuck in the elevator with 10 elderly people, whom are all VVIPs that addresses one another with their given titles and not names is very tiresome. Bukan tired apa... Penat dengar those datins and puan sris dok mengomel...
"I've frequented this hotel for almost 20 years dah tau.. tak penah pulak jadi macam nieh..."
*sigh*
So back to the story...
The help finally came after 20 minutes. The elevator was actually stuck in between B1 and B2. And when they pried open the elevator door, I was half expecting to see Officer Jack Traven to greet us with his dashing smile.. hahaha... NOT!
We had to wait for another 5-10 mins for them to fetch a ladder in order for us to climb down from the small opening. Habis mak datins and puan sris kena bukak kasut and crawl turun tangga youuu.... The best part was.. they were not that concern about getting down in one piece.. They were more concern about their shoes and handbags... *sigh*
There were grumbles from us lot about requesting for our parking tickets to be validated as a compensation. However, what can you expect from a lousy hotel service that could not even utter a single apology for the mishap? Nak cakap sorry pun susah... lagi mau bagi parking free.. Jangan nak berangan lar kan...
binx: *sigh* jack traven... *sigh*
bits and pieces of updates...
1.
The interview went well. However, I don't want to be too confident about it, coz it tak dapat nanti takde la frust menonggeng. Now, just have to wait for the HR to call for a formal interview.
2.
Went for the 2nd threading session last Friday. I find that the hair did not grow back as thick and as dark as I thought it would be. So Princess, I think you should go ahead and purchase that threading kit... Don't forget one for your lil' ms guinea pig here yeah *winks*.
3.
Watched Harry Porter last Saturday. It was nothing to shout about. I think watching the huge crowd outside of the movie theater queuing as early as 10 a.m. for tickets is much more interesting than the movie itself.
4.
I think Die Hard 4.0. is way better than the much-talked-about movie, Transformers. Seriously... That Bruce Willis is still as strong as he was in the previous Die Hard sequels. Well, maybe not as strong as before, but still ok lar. Plus, the witty dialogues are much more entertaining than the plot where Optimus Prime said "Opppss.. my bad!".
5.
Moving forward and thinking ahead scares me to death. However, I DO want to move forward and I DO want to think ahead. Perhaps we just have to take tiny steps forward together this time.
Tomorrow...
What's with tomorrow that everyone wants to schedule something on that day?
Event 1: Last Monday
VP of the department: Hey binx. So how are you fairing now?
Binx: Hey VP. I'm ok. Am slowly learning the ropes of the process.
VP: Oh yeah? That's great!
VP: I want to schedule a one-to-one session with you next week.
VP: What time do you usually take your dinner?
Binx: Ermm.. around 8pm.
VP: Alright then. So I see you on Tuesday @ 8pm ya.
VP: I would like to discuss about your progress and also talk more about your background.
Binx: Alright.
I wonder what is it that he wants to discuss about. Maybe he wants to increase my 'very the ciput' salary since he just found out that I'm a part-qualified charted accountant. Or maybe he wants to promote me to a much-deserving senior position. (Perasannyaaaaa). Oh well... What ever it is, I can't wait!
Event 2: Last Wednesday
An email from the Assistant Manager (My boss)
"Guys, take note that the weekly meeting is going to be held next Tuesday at 6 pm. Please update all relevant issues to be discussed at the meeting."
Event 3: Last Thursday
The long awaited call finally arrived!
Lady on the phone: Hello, can I speak to Cik Binx please?
Lady: and would like to schedule for an informal interview.
Lady: Well, it's more like a casual chat session to get to know you better.
Binx: Alright...
Lady: So would Tuesday 10 am be alright with you?
Binx: Sure, no problem.
Yahoo...! An interview! I sooo want that job! Now, all I need to do is to refresh my memory on all the financial ratios and tools. Wish me luck!
Event 4: Yesterday
Sms conversation with a very old friend
Friend: Hey girl! Long time never heard from you. How've you been?
Everything...
You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.
And you play you're coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah
Title: Everything
Artist: Michael Bublé
Album: Call Me Irresponsible
I just love the song... The catchy tune, the simple words, and the singer too (of course)!
Lawak Bahasa....
Saya berasa sungguh hairan sekali apabila mendengar rakan-rakan setugas saya berbual di dalam bahasa Melayu. Saya berasa hairan kerana mereka semuanya bukan berketurunan Melayu. Tambahan pula, kami semua bekerja dengan sebuah syarikat yang beribu pejabat di London, dan juga bekerja mengikut waktu London dan sentiasa berurusan dengan pelanggan dari serata dunia menggunakan bahasa 'London' (nombor telefon kami juga adalah nombor London).
Mungkin kerana terpaksa berbahasa 'London' setiap masa, jadi mereka lebih senang menggunakan bahasa Melayu untuk bergurau senda. Tambahan pula, ia juga membuatkan mereka lebih senang untuk mengata atau melepaskan geram terhadap boss-boss dan trainer-trainer Mat Salleh yang duduk berhampiran.
Yang membuatkan saya gelak pecah perut ialah apabila mendengar mereka berbual menggunakan bahasa yang diterjemah langsung (betul ke terma nieh ek?) atau bak kata orang London - 'direct translation'.
Berikut adalah contoh-contoh perbualan mereka....
Perbualan 1
Orang 1: Eh engkau nieh jangan lar main saja.. buat kerja tuh! (Eh you.. don't play around.. do your work!)
Orang 2: Engkau tak tahu.. engkau diam ah.. Aku tengah TEKANAN nieh (You shut up la dude... I am pressured right now)
Perbualan 2
Orang 1: Kenapa ketuk-ketuk handphone tuh? (Why are you banging your handphone?)
Orang 2: Cuba kau tengok handphone ni... Screen dia tak KERJA laaa... (Take a look at the handphone.. The screen is not working laaa...)
Perbualan 3
Orang 1: Mamat tuh poyo laaa...
Orang 2: Dia tuh Trainer punya BINATANG PELIHARAAN (He's the Trainer's pet)
Perbualan 4
Orang 1: Nak chocolate tak?
Orang 2: Tak nak laa.. terima kasih
Orang 1: Eleh... awak nieh NAIK HARGA la...
Orang 3: Naik harga? Apa tuh?
Orang 1: Ye laa.. Orang offer, dia tak nak...
Orang 3: OOoooo... maksud awak... jual mahal ye?
Orang 1: Jual mahal... Naik harga... sama lar tuh....
Macam mana laa saya tak gelak hari-hari. Ada saja lawak yang mereka buat secara tidak sengaja.
To shave or not to shave...
When I was young, the lil mischievous me had once used my dad's shaver and shaved part of my head and part of my eyebrow off. So, if you happened to meet a little girl with a small bald patch on her head with no eyebrow 25 years ago, that might have been me. :D
Fast forward to 25 years later, I have already mastered the usage of a shaver. hehehe... However, I no longer use it for shaving the head and eyebrow lar kan...
Where am I going with this post? Ok.. ok.. I'm getting to it.
For the past few years, I've noticed that I have a visible mustache (takde lar THAT visible macam a guy's mustache... but visible enough for people to point it out lar). Well, generally, everyone have a mustache. It's just a matter of it being visible or slightly not visible aje.
So, after a few people kept pointing it out, I felt really uncomfortable about it and tried to figure out a way to get rid of it.
My first thought was to just shave it away. However, I know that shaving can cause the hair to grow much thicker, hence, making it darker and easier for everyone to spot. Then, I tried searching through Yahoo! Answer (hahahaha... yes.. I actually did!) and had managed to come up with lots and lots of alternatives to shaving. And thanks to all the suggestions from the site, I finally opted to go for threading.
That was what I did yesterday. A quick drive to Bangsar, a few minutes wait, and a few seconds of pain, RM3 less and I emerged out from the store, mustache-less! hehehe....
Now... should I try the brazilian wax next? hahhaha... NOT!
You stink!
Outside GSC cinema....
Girl: Yang, ketiak you bau ke? (sniffing the guy's armpit)
Guy: Nope.. it's not me....
Girl: (glancing right and left) Then sapa?
Guy: (pointing to the right) Mamat belakang tiang nieh haa...
Girl: (intai-intiai) Ugghh... ooook... noted!
Guy: Hopefully he won't be watching the same movie lar rite..
Girl: I sure hope sooo...
The GIRL entered the movie hall alone since the GUY went to the Gents first. As she finally located their seats at the end of the hall and about to settle down, a group of guys came in and sat in the row in front of them. Much to her horror, the stinky armpit guy was amongst them!! Memang bau semerbak lar kan...
She took out her handphone and sent a S.O.S message to the GUY...
"Yang, mamat ketiak busuk is sitting in front of us!"
From the corner of her eye, she saw that the girl that was sitting next to her was trying her best to cover her nose. God! He stinks real bad ok.... They exchanged knowing glances and the girl next to her too noted that she was actually holding up her shawl over her nose.
Then another couple came in and sat exactly next to the Stinky Armpit Guy. The GIRL and the GUY wondered how the couple are going to survive throughout the 2 hour movie, breathing in the bad B.O. However, before the movie even started the couple made a smart move to jump a few rows in front (they were lucky that the hall was not full). The girl who sat next to the GIRL and the GUY, and her boyfriend, too had abandoned their seats (since they are sitting directly in front of the Stinky Armpit Guy).
All the while, the Stinky Armpit guy was oblivious to his surroundings. The GIRL can't imagine how can someone not notice that the people around him are going out of their way just to avoid breathing in his bad B.O. And how can his group of friends not say anything to him about his bad B.O?
Urrgghhh.......
peachy-smelling-binx: I hate B.O.!
101 emotions in one Binx
I am HAPPY that I finally have something to do to occupy my time, even though if that means that I have to travel almost 50 km everyday to do it.
I am DISAPPOINTED to find out that the organisation that I travel almost 50 km everyday to serve is actually squeezing people for cheap pay *sigh*. I should have known better than to accept the low pay that they offered me just so I can go for training in London. Even half of my teammates are looking for opportunities to expand their career elsewhere.
I am EXCITED to get a call from an ex-colleague about a new job opportunity. If I get it I'll get a chance to work alongside her once again. It will be just like the old days, only in a slightly different setting and organisation.
I am SURPRISED that I can get along so well with my teammates at work. It is as if I've known them for years and not just one week.
I am WORRIED that I can't balance my debits and credits this month. It really shudders me to think about the huge amount that's going to appear on my credit card statement at the end of the month. HELP!
I LOVE spending time with him, even if it means just a few minutes during break or after work.
I HATE feeling emotional when ever the thought of someone crosses my mind. Why do I have to get all teary-eyed every time I think about that person? It is not as if that person ever think about me.
I am GLAD that we are moving soon. I just hope we can start fresh and only good things will come our way after this.
I am SAD to learn about another misfortune that had befallen my uncle's family. They had gone through so much and I think that this is by far the worse test that they have had to go through. I just hope that they will be strong to face what ever that Allah has in store for them.
I am CURIOUS as to how a person can be so materialistic that she can betray her husband and neglect her own kid. How can she go out with another man just because he lavishes her with a BMW, Ferragamo shoes, LV bags, diamonds and jeweleries and a partnership deal to his company? She's a wife and a mother, for God's sake!! I am so EMBARRASSED to admit that she's family.
How are YOU feeling today?
Meet the parents...
I always knew that I will have to meet his parents one day. However, I didn't expect it to be last weekend!
Caught off guard, I was extremely nervous and wished that I could go back home and change instead of meeting them wearing my dirty jeans and t-shirt (we just got back from our weekend trip to Kuantan). So nak tak nak terpaksa lar jugak masuk.
Surprisingly, it was not as bad as I imagined it would be. Although his dad grilled me with so many questions (a lot a lot i tell youuuu), I actually enjoyed that 2 and a half hours that I was detained there.
Being around such lovely family never cease to make me feel sad. I just can't help thinking about what it would be like if my dad was around, living under the same roof. All the "what if" questions haunted me on my journey back home that night. Somehow I know I will never get the answer to those questions... ever...
So... I've survived the meeting in one piece. Will there be other meetings in the future? Well, we will just have to wait and see...
I LOVE coffee in the morning...
Things at the new office are not as bad as I've described in my previous post. I mean, those things that I've mentioned are all true. However, there are perks and other interesting things to look forward to once you've passed the security check at the main entrance.
One thing that I love most about the new place is that you can get a hot cup of coffee at any time of the day on every floor of the building and at every corner of each floor. That is super great for an addict like me! Plus they even have a sandwich bar on one of the floors where you can just hang out during short breaks to grab a bite or just relax and watch some good TV.
The bright and chirpy environment is a huge contrast from what I have experienced at my previous company. Let's just hope the working attitude and culture are different too. I don't think I can tolerate another round of being pushed and bullied around without gaining anything at the end of the day, accept for headaches and heartaches.
I am still undergoing the induction session till the end of the week. Hence, I really can't say much about the new job. Plus, with all the data security and restrictions, I don't think I'll be able to blog much about work anyway (thank god!).
Oh yeah... Did I mentioned that Mr Judge works just across the street? *winks*
The day I lost my freedom...
The alarm shrilled at about 4.45 a.m.
Got ready and left the house by 5.20 a.m.
Boarded the bus at 5.35 a.m. (yeah.. I now take a bus to work... it's not the public bus though).
Arrived at the new office at 6.00 a.m. And the induction started at 7 a.m.!!!
The minute I set foot in the building I knew that things will never be the same again.
You might think that I'm just being my usual drama queen self... but trust me.. I am NOT exaggerating.
Firstly, we all had to surrender our handphones at the guard station because handphones are not allowed into the operations area (actually other devices such as cameras, mp3s, ipods, etc. are not allowed as well). We can only use the handphones during breaks outside of the operations area... So guys, I hope you'll understand if I don't pick up your calls or reply your text messages during office hour (well, MY office hour that is... hehehe).
Then there's the tight security check at the entrance door of the operations area. All bags must be checked upon entering and exiting the area. I really felt as if I've entered a prison this morning as I went through all the security check points. Maybe masuk jail pun tak seteruk tuh kut...
Then there's all the barriers that you have to go through in order to get from one door to another. You can't enter a single door without swiping your ID tag on the security panel-thingy (what do you call that black thing again?). Since it was our first day, the trainer. who had conducted the induction session, had to beep us in and out of the doors. He even had to beep the guys in and out for their ciggie breaks.
Then there's the thing about no internet access on the operations floor. %^@$#!#$%%#@... Seriously! They have few dozens computer terminals on the ground floor that you can use (during your breaks, of course), should you have the urge to check your personal emails, browse the net, read blogs, or even chat. *sigh*
Really... What have I gotten myself into?
More stories later. I need to catch the 5.35 a.m. bus tomorrow morning for another day of induction *sigh*
binx: thank god for COFFEE...!
Tanam anggur no more...
I shall be re-joining the rat race as of 7 a.m today...
Hold my hand...
I get all misty eyed after spotting an elderly couple, hand in hand, walking into the exhibition hall where I was on duty yesterday. They were both very sick, with the husband helping the wife to take one step at a time. To me, that is TRUE LOVE.
I hope I'll get to experience that kind of love one day...
Hold my hand
Want you to hold my hand
Hold my hand
Ill take you to the promised land
Hold my hand
Maybe we cant change the world but
I wanna love you the best that, the best that I can
