We all need somebody to lean on...

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Song: Lean On Me
Singer: Bill Withers

I was in the office, working on a very gruesome deferred tax spreadsheet, when this song popped up on my favorite Pandora station. Ah... such simple yet meaningful song..

We all need somebody to lean on... Without which, we tend to stray to the brink of nowhere, lost in our disarrayed thoughts. Some might be suicidal at this stage, though most tend of get carried away with their flow of thoughts.

Well, where am I going with this post?

After all that have transpired for the past week, I just want to thank YOU for being there for me. Also for lending me your ears and listening to me rambling all about it. Thanks for offering me your shoulders for me to weep on - you know how emotional I can get *winks*..

Also thanks for the well wishes in the comment box, emails and sms'es. I truly appreciate all your thoughts.

Remember to holler when YOU need somebody to lean on yeah...

binx: now back to work... *sigh*

I missed you sooooo much...!

I haven't seen you for almost a week.. Oh, how I missed you so...

I am so used to seeing you everyday that one day without you felt incomplete. Oh, how I missed you so...

We didn't get to say a proper goodbye because your trip was unplanned. Oh. how I missed you so...

And I constantly prayed that Allah will keep you safe throughout that grief moment.. I am so sorry that I can't be by your side during the intense operation. Nevertheless, you were constantly on my mind...

Today, we were reunited once again. You were cold and distant at first, and that made me sad... The cold look in your eyes almost broke my heart.

I am sorry, dear...

I promise you will never have to go through it again....

The painful stiches

"Why did you have to leave me there for almost a week? Don't you love me anymore?"

"I'm tired!"

"I'm in pain!"

*yawnsss*

zzzz......

"Can you put that phone away and layan me ah?"

"I need a good back-rub..."

"Ey... enought with the camera laaa.."

"Let me sleep in peace... pleaseeeeeee!"

Good night, sayang.... Rest well...

26.01.2006 - THE Day!

Episode I

Woke up early in the morning to an empty inbox - dang! Where is that e-mail?

On the way to the office, received a call from Cik_dee - she got her e-mail already..

Rushed to the office - still empty!

The other two colleagues also got their e-mails!

Waited anxiously until 10.30 am, picked up the phone and dialed the head office.

Alhamdulillah.....! I got through 1 out of 3 papers... (for a professional exam, that's good news!)

Episode II

Went to see Beast, told her THE news, and she didn't seem surprised. In fact, she looked happy, or was it glad?

Next, went to see Uncle Dan, and gave him, first the good news, and then THE news. He was very happy at first, telling me that now I should really concentrate on clearing off the 2 papers.

However, his face fell when I passed him THE letter..

Uncle D: Why do you need to give me this letter?!
Binx: It's something that I've been wanting to do for quite some time now
Binx: And I guess this is the right time for me to give it to you...
Uncle D: But I have already planned out your future with the company
Uncle D: I'm changing your portfolio soon..
Uncle D: Can't you delay your plans and stay for at least another year?
Binx: *holding back tears* I don't think I can do that, Uncle. I'm very sorry.

Later, received a call from Uncle Singh...

Uncle S: Girl, what is this I hear about you leaving?
Binx: Errmmm, yeah you heard it rite, Uncle S..
Uncle S: Why? You'll be working under me very soon..
Uncle S: Uncle D had personally chosen you to come here (a subsidiary)
Uncle S: to head the accounts department...
Binx: Huh? Really? He didn't tell me that..
Uncle S: Well, that's the plan.. So please go and see him and take back your letter.
Binx: I don't think that's what I want to do anymore, Uncle
Uncle S: Why do you want to throw your professional career to chase your dreams?
Uncle S: You can do that later.. You are still young..
Uncle S: Plus, this opportunity only come once in a lifetime..
Binx: Yeah, I know.
Binx: But I think it is better for me to start doing the things that I love..

I don't know if I have done the right thing. Throwing away a chance to become a somebody in a company in order to pursue my dreams. Stupid, they say...

However, thanks to the darling people in my life (you know who you are - love you guys!), that have constantly reminded me of the better things that I should look forward to in the future, I have decided to stick to my original plan, come what may..

I shall not look back to this day and regret my decision. I shall not shed any tears of sorrow... only tears of sadness for having to leave a great place that has been my 2nd home for the last 3 years. I shall not mark this day as the day I was defeated by the Beast. No, she did not win. I chose to seek for a better life. Hence, in a way, I AM the winner.

Never Ever

Never ever have I ever felt so low
When you gonna take me out of this black hole
Never ever have I ever felt so sad
The way I'm feelin yeah, you got me feelin really bad
Never ever have I had to find
I've had to dig away to find my own peace of mind
I've never ever had my conscious to fight
The way I'm feelin' yeah, it just dont feel right

I'll keep searchin' deep within my soul
For all the answers
Don't wanna hurt no more
I need peace, gotta feel at ease
Need to be
Free from pain, going insane
My heart aches, yeah

~ All Saints~

Heard on the radio, on my way back from work tonight, that they are getting back together for a new album.. I can't wait! I simply love their songs - great music and superb lyrics!

Sleepless Weekend...

I've been deprived of my beauty sleep this weekend. Well, it is no one's fault, but my own. Or maybe there are a few culprits that are involved in contributing to my lack of sleep.. hehehe.

It started since Friday when I spent the beginning of the weekend terperuk in the office, trying to solve the mystery of balancing the accounts. Me and Zorro were the only two left in the building when we walked out of the office at around 10'ish p.m. Called home only to find out that no one was there. Hence, had to make a pit-stop at the local 7-E to grab my dinner - Burger Ayam Special with cheese + 100 Plus Power...

Had to drag myself out of bed the next morning because I need to get a head start on work. Promised the girls that I'll go for a movie with them at 3 p.m. Hence, I was at my cubicle at 10 (got delayed because had to teman Mom makan breakfast dulu) and was cracking my head to solve the unresolved mystery. Why laa the Company need to be so complex? Why do they need to make a Malaysian history by venturing into a very complicated corporate exercise..? It's not those directors yang need to crack their heads on what journals need to be passed. It's the blur-never paid any attention in "consolidated accounts" class because it's too complicated-assistant accountant that needs to deal with it. *sigh*

Left the office at 2 p.m. with Zorro's irritating remark about putting my social life ahead of the pending work echo'ing at the back of my mind. Am I being selfish for ditching my work just to hang out with my girlfriends? It's not that I will be able to resolve anything by sitting in the office for the rest of the day because I need more information from other people that can only be resolve on Monday. Forgive me for having a life outside the office!

Thought I could finally unwind and relax after that. However, I got caught in the famous Mid Valley parking hazzard. It actually took me almost 30 minutes just to find a parking space! Arrggghh.. It was an unwelcome stress to my already stressful day. Luckily the movie - Memoirs of a Geisha was great.. Not super-great.. but still it was great laa.. I got the chance of drool over the oh-so-hot Ken Watanabe the whole 2 and a half hours over a huge popcorn and large coke.. Heaven...

The Nachos session after the movie was a welcoming break for the tired Binx. The nachos was delicious as always.. Hot with those gooey cheese and chunks of chicken bits and all the other toppings.. yummmss... And the company was superb.. Just what I needed to end my semi-stressful day.

After a restless day at work, it was kinda hard for me to sleep that night. Hence, spent some time on the net doing mindless things - played sudoku online (i know how to play the game already!), search for restaurant's interior ideas, helped a buta-IT person set up her very 1st online photo album, and the best is the dosage of "gelak guling session" on YM.

Dozed off at around 3 a.m. on Sunday only to wake up 4 hours later with a very tired-aching-back. I didn't realised that it is going to be that tough to wake up that early when I made breakfast plans with the girls the day before.. Ah.. the agony of pulling yourself out of the warm comfy duvet...

Luckily, the great breakfast made up for the lack of sleep. Was introduced to the place by Mom and Ducky Cousin a few weeks ago. And after our monthly SATC breakfast routine, I thought it would be great to switch to the true Malaysian-style breakfast this time around...

Nasi Lemak

Nasi Dagang

Lontong

Coffee..!

No other American breakfast can beat that! Simply irresistible...

However, all the great conversation and good food didn't manage to salvage the rest of my Sunday because it all dissolved away as soon as I stepped into the office close to 12 p.m. *sigh*

It has been a long weekend. And it is still going to be a long sleepless night cause I have yet to finish up the work that I brought back with me tadi. Plus, it definitely going to be another long week ahead.

Hope all of you had a superb weekend and a fantastic week ahead. Well, at least enjoy it on my behalf ya..

binx: i'm tired!

Hey you...

Yes, YOU...!

It's a National De-Lurker Week!

Read this today, and thought that maybe I should do the same too!

I think I might have tried to lure the silent readers of this blog (not that there are many in the 1st place) to at least say hi! for awhile now, but I guess it didn't work.

Don't think that all your visits went unnoticed. With the help of Nedstats, I know that some of the you even come from :-

~ Germany
~ the US
~ the UK
~ Netherland
~ South Africa (the nasi tomato expert)
~ Ireland (thanks to the Crush Calculator I now know there's more than 2 readers frm here)
~ Hong Kong (the person that Teek nicked as her Jackie Chan)
~ Australia (someone besides Biju)
~ Japan (student from the Nagano National College of Technology???)
~ Thailand (sawadikap...)
~ etc.

It would be really great if you could just hit the comment link and say "hey there binx!". Seriously, I won't bite (even though I do work as a beast's assistant)... I would really appreciate the gesture (a forced one at this point though.. hehehe).

So... stop hesitating and comment already...

Auto cruise

Have you ever switched-off your brain and just let your body operate on auto cruise mode?

Well, after a few full swing days of tackling the consol accounts, I suddenly realised that I was not even focusing on my driving on the way back home tonight. I just let my mind drift off somewhere else, and let my body run on the auto mode. And surprisingly, it brought me safely back home.

Come to think of it, I have done it countless times before this. Especially on a rough tiring day or the morning after a rough day. I will just crawl out of bed - hit the shower - dress myself appropriately - drive to work (using the same route I take for the past 3 years) - get myself up to my floor - stash my bag at my cubicle - switched on the PC - grab my coffee mug and walk to the pantry - make myself a cup of coffee - walk back to the cubicle to start work.

Bumped into a colleague, who works in a different subsidiary - but still in the same building, in the lift this morning. We usually bump into each other most of the mornings but seldom get the chance to chat in the crowded lift. Instead, we just exchange the occasional nod and wave.

However, this morning, it was just the two of us in the lift.

Guy: Hey, are you awake?
Me: Barely..
Guy: Had your breakfast already?
Me: *lifted the Lil' plastic bag filled with donuts*
Guy: I always see you walking like a zombie in the morning..
Me: I'm not a morning person.. especially after putting in late hours the day before..
Guy: Ah.. me too *smiling his cutest smile*
Me: Eh.. but you always look cheerful whenever I see you..
Guy: Well, I have to.. I'm making an effort you see...
Me: You look better that way too..
Guy: Well, you do too.. So, stop walking around like a dead person ok
Guy: Smile.. cause you never know who might be watching *wink*
*ding* (my stop)
Me: Ah... ok. I shall try..
Guy: You do that ya.. Have a great day!

Humor me, please....

2 colleagues kept asking if I was ok today... They said that I looked so stressed out that they are worried that I might blow a fuse. However, I was actually calm (Serious binx always muncung automatically).. Just that I have no reason to smile or laugh today...

So people, please humor me.. Let's share some jokes and spread some laughter around this dull-blogsphere today!

binx: I'm not stressed out - yet!

Can we be friends?

Can a girl and a guy just be friends?

My ex once told me that a guy won't pay any extra attention to a girl unless he has an intention to be more than just her friend.

Call me naive, but I just can't accept that statement. What's wrong with having someone from the opposite sex as your friend, a close friend that is?

Growing up in an all-girls family, I find that talking to a guy is much more easier than talking to a girl. Don't get me wrong here.. I do love to talk to my girlfriends.. However, there are something that I just prefer discussing with a guy due of various reasons.

Hence, throughout these years, I have befriended a number of guys that I can really call my friends. No, I don't hold any romantic feelings towards them - just the love among friends. Spending time with these dudes would always result in lots of information trading on the opposite sex and definitely lots and lots of jokes and bullshitting fun.

Nevertheless, my number of guy friends now are dwindling due to marriage. Most of them just fade into the wind once they have tied the knot. I know that some people just find boy-girl relationship to be disturbing. Hence, my guess would be that the wives can't accept that fact and so the husbands are just trying to make the wives happy. I understand that fact and I respect it as well.

What I don't understand is that why does the wives need to feel insecure in the first place? I mean, he chose her as his lifetime partner, he married her and wants to share his whole life with her... why feel threatened by the friend?

This theory can also be applied the other way around. There are men, who can't tolerate their wives or girlfriends having guy friends. I know they exist because I used to date a guy who can't understand why I have lots of guy friends. One of the reason why we ended the relationship was because he felt insecure about it.

I can argue about this topic for hours and still feel unsatisfied about it. I guess not everyone share my sentiments on this matter.

Someone told me that perhaps I haven't love someone deep enough to feel the jealousy that creeps up whenever I see him talking to the opposite sex. Maybe.. Or maybe I just don't have a jealous bone in me.

So, do you think that a guy and a girl can be friends - especially after marriage? What say you?

Road to freedom

Today marks the end of my short-lived honeymoon. It is the last day that I will be able to see the sunset. It is the last day that I will be able to reach home before 7 pm.

As of tomorrow, my work will become my life for the next 2 months. Zorro had gave me prior warning that it will definitely be a bumpy ride. There will be no life whatsoever for me outside the office building.

The stress level is building up. My tummy had even been infected with the Beast syndrome. Every time Beast raises her voice, it will start to ache. The best part is that the pain will start to attack even though Beast were shouting at Zorro, not at me. How laa to survive the next 2 months nieh?

I am bracing myself to face the worse 2 months of my life. The only thing that will keep me going will be the bright light at the end of the journey. The light that symbolises FREEDOM...

Hari Raya for Bibik - Part II

Salam Aidiladha buat semua...

Mudah sahaja..

Daa....

Tag Tag Tag

Someone had managed to tagged me, AGAIN!... However, since you make deliciously looking bagels & brownies, I will yield (now you owe me a bagel *winks*)...

The RULES : Remove the Blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone else up a notch. Then add your Blog to the bottom spot.

1 - The Life of An Independent Babe
2 - My All
3 - i s a n y o n e O u t t h e r e !
4 - Month of May
5 - Confessions of a Rhumba Addict

You then select 5 people to pass the love on to.

Like all the other tags and memes I've done previously, this too shall stop here...

1. What were you doing ten years ago?

Fresh after SPM, I was busy hanging out with friends, catching up on all the latest movies in One Utama after 2 years of confinement in Hulu T'gannu.

Correction:
10 years ago, I was still in form 5 - busy preparing for my SPM. Life was pretty simple back then... Everything was done in a clockwork routine. Wake up - breakfast - class - lunch - afternoon prep - tea break - recreation time (sleeping time for me *winks*) - dinner - evening prep - supper - sleep. Despite having to follow the strict schedule all year round, it was one of the best years of my life...

2. What were you doing 1 year ago?

A year ago, I was caught up in the excitement of one of my best buddies wedding preparation. We went for our last breakfast before she became a "Mrs.". Oh it all seems like 1000 years ago, when I was still the care-free Binx... I miss those moments.. (Btw, Happy 1 year anniversary E.j.a.n & hubby! - I know I'm early)

3. Five snacks you enjoy.

- all the asams
- mamee monster snacks
- cikedees (aaaahhh... I miss cikedees *sob*)
- snickers bar and kinder bueno
- sunflower seeds @ kuaci

4. Five songs to which you know all the lyrics off your head right now.

- Because of You : Kelly Clarkson
- Stay (I Miss You) : Lisa Loeb
- Time After Time : Matchbox 20's cover version of Cindy Lauper's hit
- Daughter : John Mayer
- Nobody Knows : Tony Rich Project

5. Five things you would do if you were a millionaire.

- perform Haj
- equip myself all the latest cool gadgets
- tour the globe with family and friends (yeah, my treat!)
- start a charity drive to help the under privileged kids
- fund my dream project : Cafe ala' Binx

6. Five bad habits.

- hate doing housework (except cooking)
- auto "muncung" mode especially when I am concentrating hard on something
- make "swooshing"-like sound when I am figuring out or summing up something
- do the head-tilt when posing for pictures (discovered this after going through pictures from the past to present)
- hate wearing shoes when I'm at my cubicle @ work.. I usually sit 'bersila'-style on my chair.. more comfy that way...

7. Five things you like doing.

- sleep
- drink coffee (Rhumba!)
- hang out with my buddies
- cook
- watch the moon and the stars on a bright, clear-sky night

8. Five things you would never wear, buy, or get new again.

- Motorola phones
- Saree material for kebaya
- CLEO mag

The day I picked up a CLEO...

I woke up this morning feeling rejuvenated after a deep slumber... The long slumber was indeed a welcoming treat after a hectic week.

After having a heavy nasi lemak breakfast, I didn't feel like having anything for lunch. However, I didn't feel like coping inside the office either. Hence, I grabbed my purse and went to the next building for some cuci mata session.

Out of all the things that I have planned to buy, I came back with a copy of January'06 CLEO magazine. It has been exactly a year since I bought my last copy of CLEO.. Wow.. gila lama..! Look at what work and study have done to me..

Browsing through the magazine, I realised that the articles are getting shallower by every page turn. I don't mean to sound like a smart-ass, but how did these people come up with the stories that they put in there? Were they this shallow last year?

No, the articles are not all bad.. I have always love their column on beauty tips and reviews, and the fashion spreads are cool too. The column where they provide ways on how to use a single clothing item in 4 different ways is my all-time favourite.

The article that got me started was titled "The Top 10 Celebrity Bi-atch Fights".. Errmm.. this sounds like something you can get out of the majalah Mangga, where people would be craving to know who is fighting with who and what not.

Another one that had me going "uurrgghh" was "10 clues Mr. Right is actually Mr. Wrong". Do you actually need to go through the checklist in order to determine whether the guy is Mr. Wrong? Let's see.. It says here.. (1) Mr Wrong looks for easy target (2) Mr Wrong wants everything now (3) Mr Wrong hides things (4) Mr Wrong looks bad on your loved ones (5) Mr Wrong has a temper (6) Mr Wrong can be picky (7) Mr Wrong may be looking for a mom (8) Mr Wrong can seem too good to be true (9) Mr Wrong can be too faithless or too religious (10) Mr Wrong may be uncaring. Hmmpff.. does he have to have all those characteristics or by just having one would make him a Mr. Wrong?

The shallowest article award goes to "Your Horoscope 2006 - Your 12-month love, happiness, career forecast". I have always love reading horoscopes, just for the fun of it. However, this article was a total bull...! My horoscope reads.. "... Beware from May 22 until October 29, of an unwanted pregnancy. If you're not keen to start a family this year, take extra precautions...".. How in the world do these people come up with such bad horoscope. I read in one book, the editorial group actually hold a horoscope meeting once a month just to create new horoscopes for the next month's edition. They do it base on the person who represents each star sign... How resourceful!

I practically threw the magazine to the floor after reading the last article (a drama queen act aje - lunch time dah habis and Beast just walked in.. so simpan laa).

Anyhow, the magazine actually kept me entertained during my long journey back home. Finally I have something to keep me occupied during the traffic jam! Since the traffic was bad, I was stuck reading the Q&A section of the magazine. I usually skip these parts because I prefer to see the colorful interesting ads rather than reading other people's problem. However, I started reading one problem and started laughing.. Then I read the next one and the laughter got louder.. The next thing I knew, the driver next to me was staring at this insane lady who was laughing madly alone in the car... Psycho sungguh perempuan nieh... hehehe..

What were the Qs?

"My husband and I can rarely agree on what to watch on TV together. As a result, I sit through an hour of something that bores me and then he does the same. Now, he wants to get another TV for the bedroom so that we can watch what we want. Is this wise?"

"The other day, my boyfriend asked me to look through his mobile phone for the number of a friend. Unfamiliar with his phone I found myself in the stored photos folder, where I discovered a shot of a pretty girl smiling at the camera. At first, I didn't think twice about it. However, now I can;t get her out of my head. Do you think he may be seeing someone else?"

"I've always wanted to have sex with my girlfriend but she won't allow it. She would rather stimulate herself than have sex with me. Is it because she feels that I'm unable to satisfy her?"

Arrrgghhh....! Does the person answering these questions have a PHD in human psychology or something? And these people actually follow the advice given? Oh my.... kesian... (ikut tone macam dalam movie Madu Tiga)

Binx, the Sleepyhead

I noticed that for the past few weeks, I can't seem to blog with out falling asleep somewhere between the dots and the commas...

Tiredness....!

Exhaustion....!

Hence, I can't seem to word my thoughts exactly to what I had in mind when I first started the post. I usually ended up finishing the post in a hurry, just so that I can push the laptop away to make room on the bed and just zzzz....

...

...

...

...

Opps... sorry. There I go again... I ter'dozed off again!

Ok lah people.. I'm off to la la land... I'll try to write again once I have overcome the sleepy syndrome...

Good night!

1st day of school...

Today, many parents took half day leave just so they can send their kids off to their first day in primary one. The road in front of the primary school near my area was jammed packed with cars and busses, loading off tiny little beings carrying huge backpacks. Even my favourite radio station were interviewing callers who were sending off their kids on their first day of school.

I remembered when it was my first day of school. Dressed in the blue and white dress, I walked into the school gate alone, unattended by my parents. Earlier, Mom had briefed me on what to do on my first day, where to go, and so on. Hence, armed with the big 50 cent shilling as my pocket money, I carried my yellow backpack and headed straight to my class, 1 Marikh.

There I sat, timidly, minding my own business in class when one lady approached me..

Lady: Adik nieh nama apa?
Me: Binx..
Lady: Ha.. nieh anak Aunty, L..
Me: Hi L
L: Hi Binx..
Lady: Haa.. bagus dah kenal..
Lady: Binx kawan dengan L ya.. Aunty nak kena pergi office nieh..
Binx: Ok Aunty..

That was how I met my first friend. We sat together, checking out each other and eyeing the rest of our classmates before the teacher called for attention.

Teacher: Selamat pagi semua...
All: Se-la-mat *gasp* pa-gi *gasp* cik-gu!

Then the administration work began. We were called one by one to take a snapshot for the report cards. Ah.. I still have that picture in the report card... cute lil' binx on her fist day of school... hahaha

Recess was the best part of the day. I went to the canteen with one new fat chubby classmate of mine, Kok Seong. He went straight to the counter and took 3 packets of nasi lemak! That boy can really eat... Looking at him in action, swallowing down the 3 packets with sweat dripping down his forehead - the effect from the red hot sambal, reminded me of a big fat dog.. hehehe... He didn't even stop to check if I was sitting next to him throughout recess. I didn't mind that anyway because I was too caught up with the sight of all the junk food available...

The canteen then became my favourite refuge until my last day of school. Everything was affordable back then.. With 50 cents you can buy 3 packets of the 15 cents nasi lemak; or 10 packets of the 5 cents mamee; or 2 Paddle pop ice cream; or 10 ice cream batang; or 2 plates of mee hoon.. you get the drift. My only obstacle during those days were to be able to attract the Makcik Kantin's attention due to my cute size...

No, I did not cry nor pulled any mengada stunts during my first day of school. Maybe it was because I have spent almost 2 years in kindergarten that I am used to the classroom environment by then. That was also the reason why my parents did not bother to wait up for me, because they know that lil' binx is one independent girl.

Back then, parents don't really fuss much about their kids. The most that they do was just send the kids off to school before heading to work. However, nowadays, some parents are even worst than their kids, in terms of fussiness. They fuss around about the classroom, they fuss around about the teachers, they fuss around about the fees and they even fuss around about other kids (standard one kids!!) that their son or daughter should and should not play with. Sometimes you can get confused as to whose first day was it in the first place...

binx: if only we could turn back time... *sigh*
