Of flags, fireworks and peace...

It's the season to raise the national flag again! Now everywhere you go, you'll see the red, white, blue and yellow color everywhere..

Let me tell you a secret...

My worst fear during this season is that some idiot would stick the irritating plastic flag on my car's windshield. Seriously, it is my very worst fear whenever we hit the month of August. When I pass a toll booth, I would make sure there are no large group of people gathering at the booth sticking flags on people's car.

It's not that I am anti-nationalism or anything. It's just that I hate to stick anything on my car. Currently, I only have two stickers on the front windshield, one being the compulsory roadtax and the other is the manufacturer's auto assist sticker/emergency numbers. If banyak sangat it looks so serabut laa... Plus, those plastic flag holders are very hard to remove. Tak pasal2 nanti lekat forever la pulak. Rimas...!

There was once, during my uni days, the guys went frantic over the 'Raise the flag' campaign. They sticked the flags everywhere. And by everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE! I remembered one red Satria that was literally covered with flags. There were a huge flag spread across its front hood, plus 30 over mini flags sticking on its top and rear hood. Rimas to the max ok!

Ok enough bout the flags...

Tomorrow's the National Day. Hopefully people will come together united and celebrate the true meaning of independence on this day forward. With all the political hoopla and other banters going around these days it is very hard to grasp the concept of unity any more. When would they stop all the bickering and concentrate on pushing the country forward? Only God knows laa kan... Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

They are setting up the stage for a concert at the Curve as I am writing this post. I guess there will be fireworks display there tonight. So I am planning to watch it from the playground near my house with my new toy in hand... Hopefully I'll be able to capture a double firework display from OU and the Curve again this time around.

Have a great Independence day, people...!

Look at the kid's peace sign.. noticed anything odd bout it? *lol*

I gave up coffee and cigarettes...

Hey..! No way am I giving up coffee! Not now.. Not for anyone! NEVER! And since when do I smoke? kekeke...

Background music: Coffee & Cigarette (Michelle Featherstone)

Aaaahh.. such a great tune. I am a sucker for slow sappy tunes such as this. I am also a sucker for great sappy books too... hehehe...

I finished reading The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks last week. Yeah, I have just read it even though the book has been published for years now. I must say, compared to The Love Story, this book has more drama and pulling factor. Even though the story is too good to be true, One can't help but sighing and wishing for a man like Noah to appear in One's life when One finished reading the final page of the book. And another pulling factor for me is that Noah kept quoting Walt Whitman's poems... Did I tell you that I am a sucker for beautiful poems too? *swoon*

The book was so good that I have downloaded the movie that was made based on the story. However, they didn't manage to capture the heart of the story well in the movie. Unless those who watched it actually read the book first, then they would be able to feel Noah's pain. *sigh*

My agenda this week is to start on Spark's other book, The Wedding, which is also a continuation from The Notebook. Yeah, I know.. I have no life... Well at least I'm filling my idle time with something right.. rather than just drown myself in self-pity and sorrow...

I gave up coffee and cigarettes
I hate to say it hasn't helped me yet
I thought my problems would just disappear
And all my pain would be in yesterday

I poured my booze all down the kitchen drain
And watch my bad habits get flushed away
I thought that would keep my head on straight
And all my pain would be in yesterday

But it's true I'm still blue
But I finally know what to do
I must quit, I must quit...
you...

A fairy tale gone bad...

Once upon a time, there was a girl who lives in a kingdom far far away. Despite the terrible past that she had gone through while growing up, she was really a happy girl. She had everything that a girl ever wanted - a nice house, nice car, stable job, great family and superb friends. Her everyday life was filled with colorful characters and exciting events that she never stopped to imagine what would life ever be like without them.

While growing up, she thought that things will turn out great once One secures a job. However, she thought wrong. Even though she had secured a stable job, doing something that she used to think that she was good at, she never really felt that she belonged. Maybe it was due to the pressure that was put on her by her superior, who had drove her right up the wall by pushing her to her very limit. She always ended up going back crying her eyes off, feeling as if she wasn't good enough for the job.

Hence, when someone offered her an opportunity that she could not resist, she took it without any hesitation and quit her miserable job. To her, it is better to work her a** off doing something that she really loves doing rather than slaving herself for the beast. That was what she thought. And that was what she told everyone when she was leaving the company.

However, what is a fairy tale without any twisted drama, rite?

You would think that the girl would be enjoying her freedom at this very moment, free from the beastly superior and all the sleepless worry to meet a dateline for everything. Well, that is where you are wrong.

A month into her job, the new company that she was working with had a little glitch and it had caused everything to go haywire. Suddenly she can see all her plans and dreams fading off into the broad daylight. She tried to make it work though, she really did. However, maybe the Almighty just wanted to test her patience by throwing in another set of problem her way soon after.

Since then she had been battling the problem solitarily. No one understood the agony she felt at that time. And being the proud person that she was, she never lets anyone know how she really feels deep inside. She puts on her happy mask whenever she was around people. She kept on with her charade even though people kept poking into the hole of her most sensitive heart. But no one knew that the heart was silently screaming inside.

Now the girl is really wondering, skeptically in fact, if there will ever be a happy ending in her fairy tale life. This is because all the colors in her life had fade away and all that are left are just grayscale images of a bleak future.

Love story...

"Love means never ever having to say you're sorry..."

That's one of my favorite quote taken from the book, 'Love Story' by Erich Segal.

Note: If you guys reading this post, hoping to read something about Binx's love story, you better stop here! hehehehe...

I remembered when I first found the book in the school library back in Kuala Berang. The cover was old and worn. That was the first time I read a love story written by a male author. I was expecting it to be nothing extraordinary, due to the fact that the book was not as thick as the other chic lit that I was accustomed to. However, I was hooked to it from the very first page til the very end.

I remembered crying my eyes out during that night when I finally finished the book in my hostel room. And I also remembered crying once again when I caught the movie, based on the novel, on the Hallmark channel a few years after that.

Recently, I have been trying to locate a copy of the book at the local bookstore, but they don't seem to be stocking it anymore. Maybe because it is such an old book (first published in 1970) that it is very hard to get a hardcopy of it anymore.

Imagine the thrill that I felt when I managed to locate an e-book of the 'Love Story' few days back! Happy giler ok..!

So there I was, reading the book again, after 11 years, thinking that it might not be as sappy as I remembered it to be. After a few chapters, I realised that it really WAS not as sad as I remembered it to be. In fact, I even managed to laugh along with the characters when they actually think that they might call their first son Bozo *lol*.

The tear-jerking part of the book only came at the very last few pages of the book. Despite it being very abrupt, it still managed to tug my heart and made me cry, AGAIN!

Aaaah.. such a great book it was... Seriously, for those who have not read it yet, I recommend you to download it now and read it. You can download it here.

I have also managed to download the japanese drama that I've been searching for - 'Beautiful Life'. Yeay!!!

Just as I remembered it, the show was superb! Takuya Kimura is so adorable and the storyline is so beautiful! If you are a fan of japanese drama, try downloading it here, and enjoy!

Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Title: Chasing Cars
Performed by: Snow Patrol

Fell in love with this song when I first heard it on the final episode of Grey's Anatomy (Season 2) and then again on the final episode of One Tree Hill (Season 3). It took me a while to search for the song title and group. But it was worth the search... Such a lovely song.. Me likey!

Enjoy!

Lost for words

If you've noticed (that is if you have been following my ramblings since the beginning of time... hehehe), lately I have been substituting words with pictures. I guess it's because I can't seem to put my thoughts into words.

It is hard even to describe how I feel about turning a year older. That is why I have let the pictures tell the story.

There's nuthing much to tell anyway.. It's just another typical day, with an exception of a huge bouquet of roses arriving on my doorstep! Oh yeah.. not to forget all those warm wishes & hugs.. It had made my day seemed brighter, despite the heavy clouds that have been hovering above my head. Thanks guys!

p/s: a birthday shoutout goes out to the long lost 3six7... Happy Birthday, buddy!

The story of my life...

the story of my life, originally uploaded by rhumbaaddict.

Can't help myself from recalling how this exact day was a year ago...

Everything was different.

I was a year younger (d'oh)

I was happier, despite all the work related stress...

and I felt like I was on top of the world...

Sadly to say that I am not even close to feeling those feelings today

Oh well, 2006 is not over yet rite?

binx: happy birthday to me!

Seriously....?

I usually hate to attend weddings alone, especially when I know that I won't be seeing any familiar faces around. Hence, I would usually call friends that were invited to the same event and 'pakat' to go at the same time.

Another reason why I dread myself to attend weddings unaccompanied will be due to the questions that will follow suit.

"So, where's your boyfriend/date?"

"So, you bila lagi?"

Those were the typical questions that I have been getting over the past few years.

However, I was not prepared for the question that was asked by an ex-uni mate during a wedding dinner tonight, which I went with my ex-colleague who also happens to be my junior in uni.

"Is that your husband?", nudging her face towards my partner.

I took a long look at her face, checking whether she was really serious or kidding around. She was waiting for my answer. Seriously...?

"NO!", I said..

"Hell NO...!", he said...

*lol*

Has it come to that stage now? I mean, when you are 24, people expect you to have a boyfriend. And now 3 years later, people expect you to be married!

I am so not prepared for social events!!!

Letter to Ariez...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hey there Lil' Ariez,

I bet by the time you read this, you must be all grown up. Old enough to learn how to google your name on the net. :)

Well, I just wanted to pen down one of the most traumatic experience in your life (I bet you'll encounter more of it later in your life.. but trust me, you'd want to know this one), should your mummy forgets to relate this to you.

Today, like every other week for the past 3 weeks, I went to visit you and your mummy at your granny's house. And as always, you were busy sucking your hourly dosage of milk when I arrived. Your mummy wanted my help in designing the invitation card for your aqiqah and cukur jambul ceremony, since she's not IT enough to play around with the photoshop *winks*.

Half way through the process, when your mummy took a break for lunch, I heard a loud 'poop'ing sound next to me. Then you cranked up your usual tune for diaper change. I thought that was loud enough, but I didn't know that it can get even louder than that.

By the look on your mummy's panicked-stricken face, it was not like any other diaper change routine. There was blood all over your birdy, and it was flowing non-stop. Panic kejap everyone.. and your loud cry didn't help the situation at all (d'oh.. how else where you suppose to express your pain pun kan?)

Since your granny and your aunt were both shaking with terror, I offered to send you to the hospital. When I dropped her off at the emergency room, I told your mummy that I'll find her as soon as I parked the car. It was really easy to trace her whereabout actually. All I had to do was follow your loud screaming cry.. And I swear to God, dear boy, you sure know how to cry. I can't sit still outside in the emergency waiting room hearing you screaming in pain like that. Kesian sangat...

Anyway, what happened was that while your mummy was changing your diaper, your feet accidentally brushed off the small tube that covers your newly circumcised birdy. Tuh yang darah memancut tuh... You should have seen the look on your mummy's face when she thought she broke your birdy and destroyed your sex life for good. I should have snapped a picture at that moment kan, but then again I didn't want to be seen as an un-supportive friend pulak.

So Ariez, I hope there was no permanent damage done to your birdy. Just so you remember, I've seen it all... hehehe.. So you better be good to me or I'll tell your girlfriend all about it... :D

Hugs & kisses,

Aunty Binx

Everybody Hurts...

When the day is long and the night,
the night is yours alone,
when you're sure you've had enough of this life,
well hang on.
Don't let yourself go, everybody cries,
and everybody hurts sometimes.

Sometimes everything is wrong.
Now it's time to sing along.
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
if you feel like letting go, (hold on)
when you think you've had too much of this life,
well hang on.

Everybody hurts.
Take comfort in your friends.
Everybody hurts.
Don't throw your hand. Oh, no.
Don't throw your hand.
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no,
you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life,
the days and nights are long,
when you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
everybody cries.
And everybody hurts sometimes.
And everybody hurts sometimes.
So, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on.
(Everybody hurts. You are not alone.)
