Confession of an unsatisfied DIL

Ok before I start renting, I would like to say that I love my in-laws (ILs).  They welcome me to their family with open heart and treat me like their own daughter.

However, I am really frustrated by the fact that we have to go back to my ILs every single weekend!

We work 5 days a week and weekend is the time we kick back and rest, after we clean up the house, do the laundry & ironing of course.

I can safely say that since we had Noah, we have been going back to my ILs every single weekend (except maybe 3-4 times where I managed to come up with excuses not to go back).  It is really taxing for us to be rushing back on Friday nights and coming back to our house on Sunday nights (usually after 10p.m.).

Why do we go back?  Coz Noah is their 1st grandson and they wish to see him every weekend. And coz MIL refuse to learn the way to our house so we have to go back.

Our phones will be ringing/beeping with sms by Friday night with MIL asking what time we will be arriving that night.  Or if we don't get anything from her on Friday night, it will be the 1st thing Saturday morning.  I am not kidding you!

I think this arrangement has got to stop before I go beserk!

Let me tell you what happened last weekend.

We went to IKEA last Friday night for dinner and to get some stuffs for the house.  Half way through dinner, Mr Judge got a call from MIL asking us what time we will be arriving.  So, the good son replied that we will be arriving slightly late as we are out for dinner.  Once arrived at the ILs, MIL asked us what took us so long to arrive and pitty that the grandson had fallen asleep (we arrived close to 11 p.m.).  Shortly after we had settled down, MIL announced that she won't be around the next day (Saturday) coz she has classes and other programmes at her uni.

That was a blow to me.  I mean, if you are not going to be around, why rush us to go back early.  You could have told us to come Saturday evening instead rite?  But that was not the worse part....

Saturday evening, MIL casually announced that she has classes the next day!  WOW!  Talk about sellfishness... I mean, if you are not going to be around at all during the weekend, why ask us to come in the 1st place.  She could have just told us to come over for dinner (we would have obliged to it gladly coz there were tons of laudry waiting to be washed at home).

I was seriously bengang last weekend.  I was not angry at her for wanting to see her grandson, but I was angry that she didn't think of us and that we also have our own seperate lives to go back to.  If she thought about it all, she would understand when we say that we have chores to finish before we can go back to see her.  She would understand when on certain weekends, we just want to stay home and rest.

Call me a bad DIL... but will you feel the same way if you are in my shoe?

Confession of an unsatisfied tax payer

I wonder if people still read this blog, since it has been abandoned for almost 6 months!  Gosh.. it has been too long!

I have a lot of things that I want to blog about daily, but somehow I managed to put it off due to laziness.  However, let's just see how far this new eagerness to blog syndrome goes...

I have a confession - I hate watching the primetime news because it is filled with all the stupid political drama mumbo jumbo that beats the cerekarama.  I even skip the local section in the newspaper most of the time because I just can't bare to read another news that will make me puke blood.  Hence, I managed to self-censor myself for quite some time now.

However, I have had a lot of spare time at work lately and had been following some blogs (with the hope to become more aware of who-is-who in the corporate world) and the things that I have stumbled upon makes me sick to the core.

The issues are not new (my 2 year stint with a GLC had exposed me to lots of these morally wrong things before).  However, it had gotten worse!

I don't know about you guys, but I seriously am riled up about how the Government is spending my hard earned money.

Issue #1

The so-called trips to other countries on the pre-tax of strengthening the relationship between countries, while at the same time attending daughter's graduation ceremony and even the same daughter's engagement event!  Seriously?  Can't you just pay for the trip youself with all the cuts you make under the table by approving all the "politcally correct" projects?  Why must you make us pay for you and your family?  Aren't you afraid of being questioned by mungkar and nangkir about your duties and responsibilities that you should have fulfilled?

Issue #2

Another issued exposed over the last few days was about how a certain ministry had spent RM1.8 million of the public money to set up 6 facebook pages.  OMG!  My 7 year old niece can set up her own facebook page and she doesn't even have to pay a single sen.

Granted that you need to fork up some cash for the advertising and what not... but RM1.8 million?  Seriously?  Why can't you just hire an executive to handle all the social media advertising and maintain all 6 facebook pages and pay him say RM3,000 a month? That will amount up to RM36,000 per annum.  Even if you hire a team of 5 people to handle the unit it will only cost you 10% of the amount that you are spending right now!  That is our money for God's sake..!

Issue #3

Increasing the electricity tariff because the Government cannot sustain the subsidy that it has to fork out yearly.  I don't know how this will help the rakyat.  But I do know that there are other ways that the Government can save and not affect the current burden that they have set upon the rakyat.

1) The Government can stop giving out contracts to the highest bidders - it is really unjustified that you award tenders to the highest bidders!  I used to be on the other end of the table where I had to justify why we had to award a construction contract to the highest contractor just because the chairman of the construction company was an ex-chief of army or something like that.  It was really SHITTY because I know that it was wrong but I had to do it because "saya yang menurut perintah"... Come on!!!! The extra cash that you are forking out of the public fund can be put to a better use.

2) Stop paying the international consultants to come up with textbook templates for the Government strategic plans.  Their fees are ridiculously high but the result will get you no where if you keep going on running the country the way you are doing right now.

I can go on and on about this issue and I know it will not get me anywhere.  However, I know I am going to do something about it during this up coming General Election.  For the first time in my life, I am going to vote (yes I have not voted before - bad bad bad i know!).  But I guess it is not too late to start and voice out my rights as a rakyat.

The Government better do something about all this or else they will start losing votes.

I know they have lost my vote for sure...
