Trivia...

Let me throw you a trivia question...

Say you are having some problem with your computer and needs to get access to the web. You tried accessing through a PC in an abandoned cubicle but realised that it is not connected to the internet. You know that you can access it through your colleague's PC, but she is out for lunch and her PC is password protected. You know her PC password, because she told you the password before she went for her study leave. Would you....

a) wait for her to come back from her lunch break and ask her permission to use her PC;

b) call her up and ask her permission to use her PC;

c) key-in her password and just access her PC;

d) try looking for other colleagues to access from their PC;

e) go for lunch.

If it was me, I'd opt for option (a), just because it is the right thing to do. To me, accessing someone's PC without his or her permission is like prying into his or her privacy. Even though you might not go through his or her files/folders/etc., it is still violating the person's space.

That person might have left some windows open when (s)he left for lunch. (S)he would have just pressed 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' and 'Lock computer' and went off. Who would bother to close all the windows that they were working on when they know that their PC are secured? Not me for sure.

Another trivia question...

How would you feel if you were in the colleague's situation, coming back from lunch and saw your colleague surfing away on your PC?

a) happy that the colleague managed to find access to your PC;

b) shocked at first and then dismiss all the negative thoughts away;

c) shocked at first, then panicked because you left your blog's and private window open before you left for lunch;

d) fuming mad because the person had invaded your privacy.

If I was the colleague, I would first choose (c) and then (d).

What would be your answers?

Yeay Exam's Over...!

After almost 6 months of endless torture, I finally marched out of the exam hall last Thursday as a free man (temporarily until end of January when the result comes out). The feeling of joy that day was indescribable because:-

1) I just sat for the last paper for the whole program
2) The paper was better than the previous 2 that I sat for on Tuesday & Wednesday
3) I managed to 'goreng' fully for all 3 questions (apa yang digoreng, usah ditanya)
4) I was going to JB/Singapore few hours after the exam!!!

At first we planned to go back to Mom's hometown in Kelantan since we didn't get to go back for Raya due to my need to be around my books during that time. So, we've decided to go back to Kelantan and then stop over Terengganu for a night and then make a pit stop over Kuantan before heading back to KL. However, our plans had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain and flood in Kelantan.

Hence, after a quick re-arrangement, our plans were shifted 180 degrees to the south. Mom decided to go visit her friend in JB and treat us for a shopping spree in Singapore. I was already jumping up and down at the sound of "shopping spree". My friend in JB made it worse by telling me that the Singapore sale were crazy that prices were slashed by 50-70%.. Teruja gila bila dengar.

i saw this sign everywhere...!

Our host in JB, Aunty M, welcomed us with an open kitchen (open arms) that night. We were greeted with senduk and kuali, as she is a co-restaurant owner of a very famous restaurant in Bandar Baru Uda. Me and Sis didn't even resist her offer to a scrumptious dinner. However, we had to resume our duty after that laa... ehem.. ehem (tune tekak).. Bibik nya terpaksa lah basuh segala pinggan nya selepas makan.. Mana boleh makan percuma saja kan.. Nasib baik bibik sudah di 'train' oleh ibuk ketika raya itu hari.. Maka semua pinggan nya di basuh dengan efficient sekali...

Our journey to Singapore started after the Friday prayers the next day. Since we brought 2 bags with us (to sumbat all the stuffs after our "shopping spree"), we didn't bother to take the bus due to the hassle. The cab conveniently took us to the taxi stand in Rochor. From there we took another cab to our hotel, right smack in the middle of Ochard Road.

We didn't even pause to rest. Soon after we stashed our stuffs in our room, we were off to roam the malls. Little did we expect to see no huge signs that reads "SALE", "50-70% on all items"... none... In fact the most that we saw was "20% off storewide"... And being the typical calculative women that we were, me and mom ended up not buying anything that day.. Everything were around the same price as in KL, but with a 'S$' in front.

Luckily the trip to the Night Safari made up for the earlier disappointment. This time Mom took a raincheck and decided to retire for the night. Instead, we were joined by Sis's friend, who has been in Singapore for almost 2 months. Both Kak Nora and I were 1st timers going to the safari. Hence, Sis played the role of a so-called guide for the night. It was actually a great tour and wished I had the strength to explore the tracks that were not covered by the 'tramp tour'. Well, maybe next time..

The next day was declared as "Hari Makan Day". We went to visit our 'tok sedara' in Geylang. It has been awhile since we last saw them. Tok Ami had prepared a special dish for us that morning, despite having to listen to him rambling like a broken record.. Tahan aje laa.. Orang tua.. His 'deep fried tiger prawns' are yummylicious I tell you (check out the pic below).. Managed to get the recipe out of the old guy.. Maybe will share it with you guys later.. Hahaha.. Hantam sajalah Labu...

(don't play2 ah.. siap garnishes tuh)

Since there was nothing else to do and it was raining quiet heavily in the Lion City, we decided to head back early to JB. That night, we were served with more good food by our chef-host. Aunty M and Uncle H had prepared Laksa Johor! My favorite... I didn't bother to wait for the rest of the guest to start eating before pigging out on the laksa.. 2 full plates of Laksa... If I were to stay with Aunty M, I bet I would be able to gain the extra 10 kg that I've been asking for.

Yummy Laksa Johor

That was how I spent my 1st weekend as a non-student... Managed to squeeze in a quick movie - Harry Potter - tonight... Hmmm.. what else is there to do? Bring on the good storybooks, movies, races, concerts, theaters and etc... I'm craving for entertainment...

Oh yeah... Happy Birthday to Kak Nor & Cousin Eti.. May you guys have another year full of love and great happiness... *hugss*

Blown by the wind

I have a HUGE regret feeling holding me down rite now.. The feeling just won't go away.. It even followed me through the weekend when I was suppose to be enjoying myself, after cracking my brain so hard for the past weeks studying for my exam. It even followed me into my dreams.

I'm the type of person that is easily hurt by people's remark. People that is close to me that is. And I will do my best just to make sure that I won't hurt the people that I care in return. Hence, I am very cautious (whenever I am alert laa) as to the extend of the jokes I play and the things that I say to people.

I hurt someone last week by pulling a stupid joke. And in return, I felt bad about it. Though I kept telling myself that I should not feel bad about it, I did.

Why is it so hard?

This feeling sucks BIG time!

I wish I can just blow it off into the wind....

Binx: I'm sorry...

Letter for the Moon II

Dear Man on the Moon,

It has been a while since I've last written to you. Within that period of time, my life has gone through a roller coaster journey.

There were moments when I really felt like quitting everything all together. However, after pondering on the thought, I know I can never carry it out for there is no such word as 'quit' in my dictionary of life. Although life has thrown so many curve balls my way, I know there are others that have had worse moments than that. Hence, all I have to do was to learn to persevere. Plus if I were to call it quits, there'll be no more interesting stories about the Beast, Zorro, Izzy and even the ever annoying Tilam *winks*.

Man on the Moon...

Since I've shifted to the new house, I can see you shining bright on clear nights such as this. I look up at you on most nights from my bedroom window and the sight of you just takes my breath away... It also made me forget my problems for that moment in time. Oh what a sight to behold...

I've been cracking my brain for the past few hours now. Just hope that things will go on smoothly next week. I just can't wait for everything to end. Then I can just kick back and enjoy the remaining days off from work. I am looking forward to see you from another location, under the bright sky that illuminates the deep blue sea...

Till our next rendezvous... take care.

Lots of love,

Binx

Bad Day

Ok I just can't stay away. I need to let out some steam.

I am suppose to be on my study leave as of today (Monday). However, after putting in another late night last Friday, I know I just had to come in today to finalise everything with the Beast. Plus, I was too afraid to hand in my leave form for another extra day off after my exam after all the screaming and cursing from her that Friday evening.

Hence, I went to the office this morning. I have only planned to stay for a couple of hours and be gone way before lunch. However, everything just didn't work according to plan today. Mr. Tilam is, as always, the culprit for the whole thing. hhmmppff...

I actually kid around with Teek, saying that I'll stay on for the rest of the day, but definitely not way after 5 pm. I guess I spoke too soon for things just went haywire rite after 5 pm.

My stress level was uncontrollable that I burst into tears just as soon as I heard Mom's voice on the phone.. I remembered the words that I muttered to her as I was leaving for the office this morning...

"Bye Ma.. If I'm luckily, I'll be back before lunch. If not, I'll see you tomorrow morning.."

Yeah... I've put it another long hours today. I did manage to complete my task.. That was what I came to do. I am never the type that can just leave without finishing off my work. That's just improper. Hence, now all I can do is just pray that my phone won't be ringing for the next 2 weeks. (I've been warned not to switch it off!).

As I was driving back home, I realised that I've forgotten to put petrol in the car this morning, during the rush to the office. Hence, was praying hard that I'll be able to reach the next station in time. Just as I was thinking about it, the car suddenly vibrates and just died on me. Luckily my instinct told me to take the left lane while turning into Jalan Semantan. Sudah jatuh ditimpa tangga sungguh....

I was lucky that a dear friend was a few km behind me, on his way to meet me for dinner. Luckily I didn't stay on til 12 am today. 10.30 pm was scary enough for a girl to be stranded in the middle of the road. And I really thank God that he sent me a knight in shining minyak to help me out in the messy, and smelly and oily, situation. I can't imagine what I would do if I were to do it myself.

*sigh* (I've been doing alot of this lately)

Today was indeed a bad day...

Bad Day
by Daniel Powter

Where is the moment we need at the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces everytime
And I don't need no carryin' on

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile
and you go for a ride

You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down
and you really don't mind

You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down
and you really don't mind

You had a bad day

(Oh.. Holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

A serene frame of mind

Beautiful isn't it. Got this pic off the flickr's "interesting" collections.

How I wish my life is as serene and calm...

Note:

Blogging activity will have to take a back seat for the next 2 weeks (let's see how long I can refrain myself from rambling away *winks*). My focus now is to clear off my mind on work matters (if I can) and set it upon the up coming exam. However, I will for sure still frequent my fav blogs, for I know I just couldn't resist that. Till my return, hope all of you have great weeks ahead. Do pray that I'll come back from the battle in one piece.

Cheers!

I Hate My Job!

I've been trying to tell myself that I am good at what I am doing. I keep trying to convince myself that I like what I am currently doing. Over and over again.

After reading 3six7's post, I still try to keep a positive mind on things. Perhaps my situation is not as bad as others.

However, after what I have gone through today, I am very very sure that I really hate my job!!

I have spent almost 16 hours in the office today. And during that 16 hours, I have been screamed at, belittled, bullied, pushed and even 'jokingly' threatened and asked to submit my resignation letter.

How in the world did I end up here?

It's now 12.20 a.m. and I have just got back from the office. I haven't had anything since lunch. *sigh*

What happened to us?
How come we are so broken and screwed up?

Well...
We fell in love...
And somehow the person that we fell in love with...
just forgot to love us back...

Of baju and pants

Raya come and go, and now I am back in the rat race. What am I racing for?

Time.

There's so much things to do and so little time.

Accounts closing - checked
Database updates - checked
Investment portfolio report - checked
Cheques to be issued - checked
Budget analysis - pending for Mr. Tilam's info (arrgghh)
Related Party Transaction Report - pending (Just received the task as at 5.30 p.m. today)

On top of all that, I suddenly became Beast's secretary now. Yesterday I was her despatch boy. Today, I had to photocopy stuffs for her, did the rsvp for her, organised for someone to shred all her used papers and the worse task of all - picking up her calls. *sigh*

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing it if she were to ask me in a right manner. Hello, I am not paid to be her secretary in the 1st place. I have my own set of work to complete. Plus, if those people that kept calling her were more pleasant, I wouldn't have left my phone off the hook everytime Beast's phone rang (hehehe...). And I don't get the fact that the phone will only start to ring when Beast leaves her room.. uurrgghh..

Well, I only have 3 more days to go. How am I going to complete those tasks in time, I don't know. All I know is that I won't be able to complete it tomorrow for Beast had another agenda planned out for me.

At 6.30 pm

Beast: Eh Binx ah...
Binx: Yes Beast..
Beast: Make sure you dress up tomorrow you know..
Binx: Huh? How come?
Beast: There's a signing ceremony at the hotel next door..
Beast: So you better make sure you wear your nice baju and not your pants...
Binx: Oooh.. Ooook..
Beast: Make sure you look nice. Just in case they need your service...
Binx: Rite.. *giggle*

Ok.. Before any of you draw your own conclusion, let me explain what she meant. No, she did not mean to ask me to go half naked to the ceremony. Most chinese would call a 'baju kurung' as 'baju'. Hence, what she meant was for me to come in a nice baju kurung tomorrow and look pleasant in order to help out with the ceremony. I don't know what my task is going to be. Maybe the usual usherer-do or maybe the girl with the roller..

Another half-day down the drain. I just pray that I will not get called by anyone during my study leave. That would be a total distraction on my part.

Wish me luck for tomorrow yeah...

binx: hmm.. which baju shall I wear?

Hari Raya for Bibik

Daaa...

bibik: jari-jari ku sakit semua.. karna berkerja sehari-hari...
