Just for you...

It's funny when someone tries very hard to force you into doing something that she herself failed to accomplished over the past 8 years. And to make it even worse, she managed to make you feel like crap for doing the things that she had been doing all these while, only that she managed to outdo you on that. Of course she did.. She had the 3 years advantage!

Bravo there, you! BRAVO!

That is how funny MY life is... It doesn't matter what I do, I will always come out as the bad one.

Lembab macam hippo

Finally got my results yesterday...

And like my previous sittings, I've only managed to clear one out of two papers. Despite that fact, syukur alhamdulillah!

With this hippo pace of mine, I don't know when I'll be able to get the hard-earned qualification. Nangis air mata darah baru bley pass ke ek?

Any financial strategy expert out there that is willing to give out free tutoring lessons?

p/s: congrats to cik_dee for finally completing her CIMA papers.. you'll be my source of inpiration for the next sitting.. but i'll be fighting alone this time around :(

The days just keep getting weirder...

Any one of you ever stolen a glimpse at the newspaper that the person next to you was reading before? It can either be in the comfort of your own living room, in the office, while in the LRT, or even while waiting for your turn to see the doctor.

I have to admit that I sometimes do it too. Especially when the headline catches my attention (e.g the latest gossip ke kan.. ). It is just too irresistible.

However, I really wished that I could have slapped the lady that had stolen a glimpse (hah! yeah rite.. she was practically hogging it) while I was reading the paper (The Star) today.

I was reading the sports section when the irritating lady (IR) came over and took a seat next to me (on my right). Suddenly, I heard a screeching chair sound, indicating that the lady had closed the gap between us.

Binx: *reading*
IR: Ah.. paper...!
Binx: *turned to look at the lady.. then continued to read*
IR: Eh, there's a free seminar!! (while still chewing on her ground penuts)
(Her hand suddenly was in my face, pointing to the small advert on the top left corner of the paper)
Binx: *how rudeeeeeeeeeeee!*
Binx: Excuse me? *jeling*
IR: Oh, do you speak english?
Binx: *tarik2 rambut.. I'm reading an english newspaper for God's sake*
Binx: Uhuh.... Do you want to read my paper?
IR: Yes! Do you mind?
Binx: Do I mind? Of course not.. Please.. Read..
Binx: *you can stuff your face in it for all I care*

The next thing I know, she took out a pencil and started to solve the Sudoku puzzle!! Conteng punya conteng, she didn't even bother to ask me if I want my paper back. Finally, after she gave up with the puzzle, she tore the section out, folded the paper and slide it back to me and walked off!

Seriously, can it get any weirder than that?

The blur me...

I am so bad when it comes to remembering faces and names, especially of old schoolmates that I was not closed with.

There was this one time after SPM, I walked into the local pharmacy and there was this one girl that greeted me by my full name. No one calls me by my full name unless they are from my lower secondary school. Of course I didn't remember her, so I just blurted a quick "hey!" and mind my own business looking for the stuffs I needed. However, when I approached the checkout counter, I found the same girl minding the cash register. I was stuck!

Girl: Hey lama tak nampak you..
Binx: Ha ah, I just got back from Terengganu..
Girl: Sihat?
Binx: Alhamdulillah.. You?
Girl: I'm good.. So do you still keep in touch with S (my bestfriend from school)?
Binx: (dang it! who is this girl?) Yeah.. errrmm..
Girl: That's great!
Binx: Ermmm.. ermmm...
Binx: I'm so sorry.. but where do I know you from ek?
Girl: (shocked) From school.. SMTTDI! You don't remember me eh?
Binx: Oooo.... I am sooo sorry... Of course I remember you (ayat coverline)
Girl: Ok.. so take care now.. Come again..
Binx: Yea ok.. Keep in touch (coverline lagi)

That was how bad I was. Muka tebal tak ingat laa time tuh.. And sadly, the girl still works there until today. So, I had to endure the shame until now.

Today, I had to endure another similar episode. Only it was even worse than the previous one...

I was sitting in the LRT, my mind blanked after sitting in a very long talk since morning. I was minding my own business until one girl boarded the train at KL Central and sat across from me. I didn't get a good look at her when she suddenly screamed out my name with such enthusiasm and quickly grabbed the empty seat next to me. OK.. what was I to do now? I really don't know this girl, and she was asking me all sorts of questions.

Girl: Hey, lama tak jumpa kan?
Binx: Haaa... ha ah laa.. How are you? (ayat cover)
Girl: I'm good..
Binx: So, what are you doing now? Keje kat mana?
Girl: Eh, org still studying lar... (she gave me a weird look)
Binx: *pause* (what to ask? who is she? god help me!!!)
Binx: *stole a glance* (who is this girl?!!!)
Binx: Errmm.. you ni my junior frm Q-Ber ke? (soalan pancing)
Girl: (she gave me a weird stare) Kak Binx!!! Nieh Fifi la!!!
Binx: Oh my God!!! Sorrrryyyyyyyyyyy... (she's my cousin!!!)
Binx: *bangs own forehead*
Binx: I didn't realised it was you...
Binx: You look so different with tudung.. Sorrryyyyyy..
Girl: It's ok.. it's been almost 3 years since we've last met kan?
Binx: Ha ah laa.. *phewh!*

Have this ever happened to any one of you before?

Waiting in vain

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

How long have you ever waited for someone? I don't mean this in the 'waiting for the One' context. I meant literally waiting for someone to show up.

I seriously hate to wait. I just don't have the patience to do so. And this fact does not go well with our famous 'Malaysian' culture.

This evening, I have had to endure a 45 minutes wait for a meeting. The meeting was set for 6 pm. However, up until 6.45 pm the person that I was suppose to meet did not show. Plus, she didn't even bother to call to inform me or her colleague that she was going to be late. To me, that is just plain rude. After 45 minutes, I decided to go home. It was just a waste of my time if I were to continue waiting.

Don't get me started on the wait for services/meetings with the government agencies. The time spent waiting to get a new smartcard can be used to finish up a set of Group Cashflow! Plus, if you should happen to schedule a meeting with them at 2 pm, do pace yourself and don't expect for them to show up before 2.30 pm (the earliest). Time is nothing to them, unless when it's time to pack up and go home.

Once when I had to liaise with the IRB regarding the company's tax matter, the person made me call them back in 5 minutes time just because I had called them at 2.25 pm on a Friday, when their lunch hour actually ends at 2.30 pm (I didn't know this because our company's lunch our was fixed for 1 hour throughout the week, plus I was new at that time). The best part was, the person that I wanted to speak to was the person that had answered the phone! If you don't want to talk in the first place, don't answer the phone lar kan...

Waiting for family members is another thing. I don't know about people from other states in Malaysia, however, my relatives from Kelantan seemed to love to dilly dally and keep people waiting constantly. If you were to schedule a trip for 10 am, you have to tell them that we have to leave the house at 8 am. Then only will they be ready on time (10 am). I remembered a cousin was supposed to have her akad nikah to start at 10 am. Since I was stuck in class for an intensive course, I decided to congratulate her at 10.30 am with an sms "Congrats! So now you are officially Mrs. X". Then I received her reply, "Mrs. X apa nya, tok kadi pun tak sampai lagi plus everything pun tak ready lagi". She finally became Mrs. X at around 12.30 pm!

I just can't stand waiting. Can you?

It's a boy!

In the midst of my state of depression, something wonderful had happened. My best friend had gave birth to a wonderful baby boy last Tuesday!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It's amazing to finally see the bundle of joy that had been inside of her for the past 9 months. The bundle of joy that had been out shopping with us, sat in for 2 hours manicure and pedicure sessions, listening to our regular gossip sessions over breakfast or coffee, and other crazy activities that we had done for the past 9 months.

Congratulations to the new mummy & daddy... Here's to many more happy and fun sessions with the new baby tagging along.

How dare you...

Kitchen @ 10 am

Aunt B: Who is that? (calling out from the ironing room)
Binx: It's me..
Aunt B: Aaaah.. do you know who smokes upstairs?
Binx: Huh? Why?
Aunt B: I can smell cigarette smoke upstairs (in a very irritating accusing tone)
Binx: I don't know (I actually know who.. but I am not gonna tell you, you nosy lady!)
Aunt B: Kalau dah smoke tuh mengaku aje laaa.. Tak yah berlakon tak tau (in the same tone)
Binx: Rite... (What the f***.....! @%#^$@%#!#@)

It's one thing that I have been called selfish, hard-headed, cold-hearted and stupid idiot the night before.. but to accuse me of something that I didn't do is just too much.

Who are you to accuse me so? You are not even family!!!

Eeeekkk...!

Was woken up today with a scream that my old senile cat had poo pooed in the front hall again... Urgghh.. So I dragged myself out of bed and went downstairs to clean up the mess.

On my way to the toilet, I saw 2 squirrels snacking on my cat's expensive special prescription food (the cat had some skin allergy problem so it needs special cat food). They jumped out the door at the sight of me.

As I was washing up the mop and pail in the toilet, suddenly something came jumping on my left arm and bit me!!!

"Aaarrrggggghhhhh.......! @$#^%$@#!#@%$#...!!!"

One of the idiotic squirrels must have thought that I was a free meal. However, I must have scared it away with my loud sharp scream and crazy hand yanking action that it scrammed off with its hands in its ears. No kidding....

Those squirrels are so evil. No wonder my cat didn't dare to set foot into the kitchen...

The hard headed person that I am...

Being the hard headed person that I am, I tend to ignore other people's suggestions most of the time. Especially when I believe that I am in the right. I blame it on the genes that I have inherited.

Somehow I don't think that it is worth losing everything you have over it.

However, I just can't seem to cave in. It is just too hard.

All in the kettle...

I'm typing this post while having a bowl of instant porridge (sakit perut...), which had brought me back to my MRSM days...

During those days, students were not allowed to keep any hot plates or stoves in the dorms, reason being konon takut the reckless students would burn down the whole school. Hence, our only cooking source were the kettle.

We cooked everything in the kettle, besides using it to boil our drinking water and to soak our 2-minute meal (Mee Maggi cepat dimasak, sedap dimakan). We have used it to cook instant porridge, instant soups, pak brahims delicious rendang daging, rendang ayam and other various assortments, instant ketupat, instant kuah kacang and many more.

There was this one time when we held a mini raya celebration in our dorm room - AP42 (Ingat tak korang? - I know 2 of my ex-roommates read this blog). One of my roommate provided us with the raya songs as the background ambiance and we dined to all the instant delicacies that we have cooked using the kettle... Oh such joy it was during those days to feast ourselves like that.

Today, I rarely use a kettle anymore. Actually, I don't think there is even any kettle in my house. Our source of hot water comes from our filtered water dispenser. Hence, there is no need for a kettle any longer. The microwave can do the rest of the task to boil or heat food... hehehe

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked

It's not easy to be happy and gay when you are sad. And it's also not easy to be sad when you are happy.

Well, here is something to ponder...

Then a woman said, "Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow."

And he answered:

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."

But I say unto you, they are inseparable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.

Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.

When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Khalil Gibran

Happy Monday, everyone. May you your week ahead be filled with lots of joy!!!

Hoping against hope

June has finally passed... It has been a very bitter month for me, with everything in my life making a 180 degree turn.

Somehow, I just can't imagine that my life will end up this way last January. All I cared about at that time was just to get the accounts over and done with and hand in my resignation letter. I kept reminding myself at that time that things will get better after that. However, I must have been living in a fairytale world to think that it will be sun shining, birds chirping, flowers blooming all the time.

I almost called it quits a few days back. I don't know what else to do. One thing for sure, I know for a fact that crying myself to sleep won't work. Trying to cover the sadness with a forced smile and laughs won't work too. It will only make you feel even worse after that.

Just wish that things will just be smooth sailing for the next 6 months. I know it is too much to ask for because life is a constant roller coaster. However, I just hope against hope that 2006 will end with a good promising note for me.

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
