I've been writing a post for the past 30 mins only to be deleted cause I was suprised to receive a call frm Mr. earth-digger at 2.30am.
This is the 3rd time he's calling tonight. Hmmm... what else could he want me to look up at this hr?
Mr. earth-digger's currently in the States trying to learn the ways to master his earth digging skills. Being a "smart" engineer, this friend of mine had uploaded all the software, files, etc into his poor old laptop until it showed signs of crashing. Dah nak crash baru nak ingat laa kan. Luckily, with the advise from yours truly, he bought himself a thumb drive in time. Now, his poor old laptop had crashed (kaput) with no signs of survival at all.
For the past week, he had been calling me to ask me to look up on the prices of laptops in M'sia. Apparently the laptops in the States are much cheaper (on certain models laa), plus the Christmas sale is already in full swing. As a result, I've turned into an IT helpdesk when ever he calls.
Call 1
Mr. E-D: "Ja.... tolong laa I.. Can you look up how much does a Compaq Presario model yada yada yada cost back home..."
Me: "Huh.. slow down.. let me google it k..."
Mr. E-D: "Check laa kat Yahoo.. mesti ada"
Me: "Haiya pakcik.. very tradisional laa you.. People now all use Google laa.. Anyway.... the price is yada yada yada..."
Mr. E-D: "Hey... that's expensive.. It's much cheaper here.. Ok lah.. I think I'll get it here... Haa.. lepas nieh I can continue updating my blog."
Call 3
Mr. E-D: "Ja.. can you help check out how much does a SONY Vaio model yada yada yada cost back home?"
Me: "You nieh.. Ingat I nieh info counter ke?... jap"
Mr. E-D: "Sorry laa... I can't access the net here.. And who else am I suppose to call..."
Me: (well.. you can go to the internet cafe..) "Ok... the model takde kat M'sia laa you.. but the closest one is.. yada yada yada.."
Mr. E-D: "Ok.. that's cool.. I think I should get this one.. Mesti best kan.. Plus Ja, when I get back we can hang out @ Starbucks with our laptops and update our blogs.. hahaha"
Me: "Hmmm.... just go get it 1st laa.. and we'll plan what we do later k.."
Call 6
Mr E-D: "Ja... I'm at the mall and staring at the Vaio.. It's cheaper here than the previous stores that I went to.. But I need to confirm with you how much it cost in M'sia.. please tolong I check out the price..."
Me: "Hmmmm... dah agak dah.. saw your number je I know what you want.."
Mr E-D: "Ala.. nanti I belikan your boots.. k"
Me: "Well.. the price is yada yada yada.."
Mr. E-D: "Ok laa.. I think I'm definately buying this one.. This is it.. After this I'll be using a Vaio.."
Me: "Hey.. hurry up and go buy it will you.. boring dah dengar"
Mr E-D: "Ok.. Ok.. I will..."
Call 7 (few minutes later)
Mr. E-D: "Ja...........................................! The guy just sold the last Vaio..."
Me: "Hmmmm.............. ciannya.. after all my effort.. hahaha.. "
Mr. E-D: "Tuh laa.. Maybe it's just not my luck. But whatever it is I'm going to get myself a laptop today... Tak kira laa apa brand pun"
Me: "Haiya.. does that mean I'll be getting more calls frm you later ah?"
Mr. E-D: "Tak laa.. no worries.. I tak kacau you dah.. hehehehe.. Thanks Ja... "
Sorry Mr. earth-digger.. Just can't help it. I told you I'll post this story. But the call #s and conversations are not 100% accurate. After your 3rd call, I've lost track of what I was suppose to look up and even the sites that I was suppose to refer to. Sorry for not being able to supply the info cepat. I'm not an IT helpdesk worker anyway *winks*.
Hope that you'll make up your mind soon and get the model that you really desire. After working your butts off digging the earth in the cold weather you deserve to treat yourself with a cool gadget for once. Enjoy it k.
