After trying very hard to study today, I finally called it quits and put on my jeans and headed out the door. Destination - the park!
It just felt good to be outside, surrounded by the nature. The birds were chirping, the monkeys were jumping around, the turtles and fishies were swimming and the people were laughing. The park was full, maybe because everyone just got tired of the daily rain and wanted to capitalised on the bright sunny day.
On my way back, I suddenly had the urge to drive by our old house. I know that the new owner had finally received the green light to start on the renovation after almost 2 years of waiting. However, I was not prepared to see the house that I have grew up in for the past 20 years all torn apart.
From the distance, I can see the candyfloss-colored wall of our old family room on the 2nd floor. I can still remember us; me, Lil Sis, her ex-bf, a cousin and maid; painting the wall, one weekend, when mom was away for an Umrah trip. We just thought the bright cheerful color would change the somber mood of the occupants of the house. We even did some make-over to Mom's room as a surprise.
And surprised her we did! Things went well after that until we found out that we had to sell the house.
Now, 2 years later, I find myself starring at what was left of my 20 years of memories.
Why did I go back to the house? I don't know. Maybe the ghost from the past just wanted me to take one last look at the monument that had been haunting my family for the past years.
Will there ever be a closure?
binx: brain freeze!
