Pesan orang-orang tua... (Part II)

...Jangan bantah cakap orang tua sebab dia orang lagi lama makan garam.


Well, I did exactly the opposite of that last night, and now I had to face the consequences.

As I've mentioned in my previous post, I was having car trouble for the past few days. It was due to the aged car battery that was due for 'retirement'.

Mom had asked me to call her favourite mechanic to get it fixed. However, the stingy me wanted to try and fix it myself. I was trying to prevent the 'retirement' process from happening as long as possible. Hence, I've resorted to jump-starting my car every time I can't get it to start on its own.

To make the story short, I had to send my car to the mechanic in the end, because...

1. I had ridiculously decided to purchase a new battery from the local petrol station at 1 a.m last night, which was 20% more expensive than other auto parts shops.

2. My friend had tried to replace the battery in the dark, with only the light from his car to assist him.

3. We found out from the mechanic that the battery that we bought was not compatible with my car - though the size of the pack was exactly the same (apparently the battery for my car's model is unique *sigh*). Memang buang duit betul cause I then had to buy a different one from the mechanic!

4. In the end, we managed to screw up the positive and negative terminal, which had caused the fuse to blow!!! (no it didn't literally blew... hehehe).

I almost had a heart attack when the mechanic told me that maybe the damage was bad that it may have affected the ECU (Electronics Component Unit). If the ECU is spoilt, then I'd have to get ready to pay around RM3-5K for the repairs.

Luckily the car's ECU was not affected. Alhamdulillah. However, the damage to my wallet was slightly more than what it would have cost me should I have sent the car straight to the mechanic when Mom had asked me to..


"Tuh la Mama dah cakap.... Why didn't you listen to me?"
