Confession of a guilty Binx

psssttt.... let me tell you a secret...

Did you watch the episode of Desperate Housewives, where Bree's son accidentally hit Gabrielle's mother in-law and Bree managed to cover
it up and didn't tell a soul about it?

Well, I faced a similar incident last Thursday. No, I did not hit my neighbour's mother-in law or anyone else for that matter. However, I did rammed into the back of my neighbour's MPV and didn't mention anything about it to the owner!!!

Before you start to form any judgment about me, let me tell you the whole story.

On that Thursday, my car refused to start - maybe due to a weak/dead battery. Hence, I decided to try and jump start it with the help of my sister's car, which was parked in front of my car, at the side of the alley next to my house. However, since her car was facing forward, I needed to turned it 180 degrees to face the front of my car in order to be able to hook up the jumper cable. So without much thinking, I got into her car and began to try to maneuver it out from the parking position. Oh yeah, I forgot to mentioned that her car was actually sandwiched between my car and a neighbour's MPV. And have I mentioned that my sister drives a manual car?

So I guessed most of you know what happened next. Since the alley was slanting downwards, it was really hard for me to reverse the car (being a non-expert at handling a manual car and all). Instead of going backwards, to my dismay, it started to moved forward. I tried hitting the brakes to no avail. The next thing I know, my lil' sis was standing next to the car with a horrified expression.

Panicked-stricken, I jumped out of the car to inspect the damage. However, I couldn't see anything because the two bumpers were glued to each other. Hence, I jumped back into the car to try to reversed it once again, but it won't budged.

"OMG! OMG! OMG!", that was the only thing that I chanted the whole time. In my head, the vision of my angry sister and few hundred ringgit with wings flew out from my purse popped-up automatically.

So nak tak nak, I had to call my sister to the rescue. Only she can expertly maneuver the car out and maneuvered it out she did.

After careful inspection, there was no damage to her car (thank GOD!) - everything was intact. However, the same can't be said about the neighbour's MPV. If you were to take a hard look on the bumper, you can see a crack, formed at the crook of the bumper. However, you won't be able to notice it from far.

I was adamant to knock on the neighbour's door and tell them about the incident (since their house was just opposite the lane and there is a clear view of the lane from their master bedroom window upstairs). I was afraid that they would have heard the commotion and was just waiting for me to own up to my mistake. Nevertheless, lil' sis said not to bother doing so since the crack was not visible in the first place. No one will notice it so why go to such trouble...

She got a point there. Why should I inform them about it. At that time, I kinda felt relieved and saw all the few hundred ringgit with wings earlier making their way back into my purse... hehehe...

However, my nerves started to go into a rollercoster mode when I saw the maid of owner of the MPV came out of her house, walking towards the lane. She gave me a "I know what you did!" look and I started to panicked. I thought she was going towards the car to inspect the damage and then run back to report to her employer. Imagine my relief when she walked straight passed the car towards the playgound. Phewh.....!

Then after a few minutes, the owner of the MPV came out and walked towards his car. On the way, he gave me a very weird look, as if he knew of what had transpired earlier.

"Argghh.... Oh shit! Oh shit! I am soooo busted!"

Then I heard the car's alarm being disabled and the sound of the car's door being opened and closed again. Once the sound of the MPV's engine disappeared, only then did I managed to exhale and began to breathe normally. Lega youuuuuuu......

So I'm off the hook, for now!

I just hope there was no other witness to the incident that will leak out my dirty little secret to the MPV's owner.
