One of the final duty that I had to carry out before I leave the company was to prepare the GMD's presentation slides for the Analyst Briefing. I handled the event single handedly the last quarter.
However, this time around, I was caught by surprise when Uncle Dan passed me the assignment a day before the event.
Who booked the hall?
Who did the invitation?
How about the rsvp list?
Who was in charged for the food?
Uncle: Rest assured.. Everything is handled by the "E" company
Uncle: You just need to prepare the slides... and come with me to the briefing..
Hence, at 12.30 p.m. today, I walked to the location of the briefing (which was just 10 minutes away from our building) with Uncle Dan, the CFO. He was kind enough to offer to carry the laptop bag for me, but I didn't dare to ask my CFO to do so.. Ada ke suruh boss bawak kan your bag?
Walking with Uncle Dan was a very awkward ordeal. Dah laa we both wore an almost similar pin-stripe suit... matching gitu... He was being very polite, asking about my next venture, about the company, about my studies and more. I am definitely gonna miss that great Uncle.
mingling with the analysts during lunch was not an easy task. All they ever talk about was how our company was performing. Asking probing questions about the recent acquisition of the 'Orange' Station, and the loss making shipyard. Next question please! *yawns*... Luckily I had the opportunity to do some 'cuci mata' before the presentation begins.. best oo..!
Then comes the moment that had made me 'ketaq lutut' since 8.30 a.m.. The presentation...
The Chairman for the day started off by introducing our GMD to the crowd. Then out of no where I heard him saying.. "and on my right is Ms Binx, who will be handling the slides".. Whoa..! I didn't expect an introduction at all, though I WAS seated at the very front of the meeting table. Then only he introduce the other Directors that were present at the briefing.. Wuhoo... my name comes before Uncle Dan's..
At the very end of the session, my GMD, the Tan Sri actually came to me to thank me personally for the work that I had done.. 'handling the slides'.. hehehe... It was such a memorable moment because that was the first and the last time that the GMD personally talks to me. If only he knew that I had done more than just 'handling the slides' for the past few months and give me some recognition for the effort... It would have been something laa, though it won't change the fact that I will still be leaving the company.
Before we went our separate ways, Uncle Dan actually thank me for the job well done. And he also had gave me his ultimatum about my successor. Finally! Now, I have the rest of the week to handover all my work to the two successors.. Imagine that.. The work of 1 person is now split into two... Not one, but two!
binx: i can't wait!
