Farewell Lil' Kidd

It just seems like yesterday when you first walk into the 5th floor meeting room as the new batch of Management Trainee and I said to myself "this guy looks really familiar laa.. where have i seen him before?". And soon after that, the rest was history.

You struck me as a very well-mannered, gentleman-like kinda guy at first. However, the first impression fails to describe the true you laaa buddy. The Kidd that I've come to know after one year is an immature, sometimes blur, funny, suka sakat orang, poyo kinda guy.

Despite you being all the things that I've described you above, you are still one fun guy to hang out with. On top of that I know that I can always count on you to help me out in any situation that I was in (errmm.. maybe not all laa.. definitely not with anything that has to do with tax computations - *lol*). The occasional drinks we had at Starbucks @ Std Charted building, Ikano, The Curve... it was really great bitching sessions kan? Plus, the two of us constantly bullying each other and poking fun at each other endlessly will be something that I will truly miss after this (even though nowadays I'm more of a bitch to you due to emotional/work stress).

Hence, here's a wish that you'll have a bright future in what ever path that you choose to take. Remember not to follow anyone else's foot step unless it is the one that you really WANT to take. Do things because YOU want to do it. Always think of what you can do for YOURSELF too and not focus on others only. And lastly, lose the poyo act a bit laa bro... *lol*

Hope that the friendship will continue. Do gimme a buzz anytime you are around the area. If the time is good maybe we can squeeze in a Rhumba session ke kan.. Or would you prefer O'Brians Sandwich Bar? hehehehe... Don't be a stranger yeah (well I know a poyo guy like you will NEVER be a stranger to anyone kan..)

Will miss you dearly, bro...

Let's Rhumba!!!

It has been a great day for me today (Tuesday)...

It all started when I put on the new kebaya top that Mum bought for me. I've been wanting to wear it on a number of occasion previously, but the mood just wasn't there. And since I felt all chirpy since I woke up this morning, it just seem like the perfect day to try it out.

"Hmmmm... not bad.. not bad at all.."
"Looking good, binx" (yeah yeah.. perasan laa kejap)

Got to the office and received few appreciative glances from fellow colleagues. Even Aunty Beast took a double glance at me when I handed her the morning paper. Ohhh.. let me bask in the glory of the moment for a minute will ya...... *rolled eyes*

Anyway, today was Uncle Dan's golden birthday celebration. Hence, there was a makan-makan event held at the conference hall on his behalf. Actually, everything was arranged by him this year. It was his treat for us.

During the makan-makan event, Uncle Singh decided to lay low and hide out at our table for a change. He was running away from Uncle Dan's probing questions on work-related problems (I think laa). Anyway, after Cik Dee announced to everyone that she was expecting (congrats again dear!), Uncle Singh decided to enlightened her on the future prospect of her future baby. This Uncle is an astrology pro. Thus, he starts to read out the signs of each and everyone of us at the table. Since he has read mine before, I didn't bother to probe more.

However, he had said something to me that had made my day... He told everyone at the table that according to his opinion, who ever that is going to marry me will be a very lucky guy. Aha.... Why? Well, according to him, I am a very special person that has a lot to offer a guy. And for a guy not to notice those qualities in me, it would be a great loss for him... Kenapa? Tak percaya ka? *lol*

Of course I didn't believe his words entirely laa kan. However, to hear him say that did boost up my ego a lil' bit laa that time.. Luckily nobody heard the slow sound of my ripping pants.. I think I should ask him to write a testimony on that so that I could show it to the next guy I date/go out with... *winks*

The thought of his words made me beam for the rest of the day.....

Met up with my girlfriends after work for our so-called monthly therapy session. It was good to see them (as always) to just relax and update each other on what's the latest happenings in each other's lives over Rhumba and cappuchino.

Mrs. W. will be switching job again (for the 4th time in 3 years) soon.. Plus, she'll finally get to move out from her in-laws house very soon into her 'dream' home.. Am so looking forward to checkout your new house with all the 'Casa Impian'-like deco. However, fret not dear.. we will come bearing food ok. So tell your darling husband not to freak out.

Ejan was excited about her department's get-away trip. She was telling us about all those expensive lucky draw prizes that she managed to secure from the company's vendor.. The coolest prize would definitely be the iMac powerbook and all those 5-star holiday getaway packages.. Girl, if you manage to get the powerbook kan.. nak trade tak? You can tak gheti guna iMac.. hehehhe..

It was a great session, girls. It was just what I needed before my class starts this weekend and the quarterly report period in 2 weeks time. Will try to absorb all the laughter and fun deep into my system so that it will keep me running during the rough period.

Note: A new template.. just needed a change laaa... For those that still haven't noticed it.. the sidebar is hidden on the top right corner of the page. However, this template is still a work-in-progress. I do welcome feedbacks, ideas and helping hand to further improve it.

Tell me why...

... do people make promises to call you and ended up not calling at all?

... would someone call him/herself your best friend and not be there for you when you need them the most?

... are you always attracted to the wrong kinda person while the best person you could ever have was actually standing right there in front of you?

... is it so hard to express how you really feel inside to the person who matters the most?

... do something has to end with the 'what if' questions?

... is it so hard for you to be sellfish once in awhile, instead of letting yourself being bullied by someone whom you care about that does not have any respect for you?

... do you always ended up getting hurt?

... does the thought of someone can make you smile your brightest smile and cry a tearful tear all at the same time?

... do you lead someone on when you know very well that that person likes you very much?

... is it so hard to say "I'm sorry" when you are in the wrong?

Sleeping Binx-ty

I have a problem of getting up early every morning. No, I am never an early riser. To sleep even the additional 5 minutes of sleep gives huge difference to the state of mind that I'll be in for the rest of the day. I've been told that "early bird catches the worms"... Well let those birds catch those icky yucky worms for all I care.. I'd prefer roti canai or nasi lemak for breakfast anyway.

I was late again this morning. It has been a while since I've last leave the house after 8 am. However, I was lucky enough that my usual road was not affected by the road closure and I managed to reach the office 5 mins after 8.30 am.. Ok laa kan...?

During my school years, I was always one of the last people that arrives at school after the bell rings. Living 5 minutes away from school made me even more liat to rise early in the morning and ended up running all the way to school when I hear the bell rings from the house (yeah I can hear the school bell from my room). My best friend, Shireen, would always try to wake me up every morning when she and her dad went for their morning walk at 6 am. She would throw stones at my window until I get up and show my face. However, I would then sink back deep into the pillow and continue to zzzzzzzzz.... until my mum bangs the door for the 100th time before I actually get up..

When I was in MRSM, my roommate - Lin were my official alarm clock. She would be the 1st to get up (being an ajk surau) and wakes everyone up. While the other 2 members in the room would rise up immediately, I would take one peek at Lin and shove her my towel.. "Lin.. tolong chup kan one shower stall k.. Once dah empty you wake me up yeah.." and zzzzz..... One good thing about being in a boarding school was the fact that you are living on campus, hence you don't need to rush to school amidst the morning traffic. That means more shut eye time for me... And as always, I would be one of the few last people to leave the hostel for the assembly field.

Back in the university days I never have the problem of arriving late for classes. This was due to the fact that we get to pre-picked out classes and arrange our schedule every semester. Hence, all my classes would start earliest at 9 am. Except for one semester where I got separated from the rest of my housemates (due to the subject combinations) and got myself a full week of classes that started at 8 am.. However, I still managed to get myself to class on time.

Nevertheless, there was this one time where my sleeping habit nearly got me into trouble. It was during my final exam - final semester in uni. Oh yeah, it was also the final paper for the entire university years. International Accounting - ACCB433 was the paper I was sitting for that day. Exam time was 8.30 am (i think.. ke 8.00 am?). Since it was one of the subject that I hated most due to the all the theory that we need to hafal, I stayed up late the night before - konon2 nak cram in the extra info in the already tired brain of mine. After 3 hours of sleep, I woke up to perform the subuh prayers and continued studying after that. Baca punya baca, I didn't realised that my eyes were shut after a couple of minutes and my head fell on the comfortable pillow and zzzzzzz.......

Celik2 mata, tengok jam, it was already 8.15 am!!!! Panicked stricken, ran to the bathroom to wash my face, ran into the room again to change.. What? Shower? No time for that.. By that time all the candidates will already be allowed into the exam hall and will be busy filling in all the necessary info on their answer scripts. Luckily I got the car during the exam week. If I were to walk from the apartment to the exam hall, memang tak sempat..

Arrived at the exam hall 10 minutes after 8.30 am and got a seat rite at the end of the hall. Took one look to my right, there was Jigga with a concern face (at first). He mouthed something at me, but I was too panicked to figure out what he said. Just gave him a shrugged and proceed to tembak all the questions in the paper. It was difficult concentrate due to the fact that your brain had just been jumped start early in the morning and suddenly were forced to focus on the theory questions.

Right after the exam, while the examiners were collecting our papers, I was approached by the concern Jigga.

Jigga: Dude, what happened to you laa?
Binx: Errmm.. I over slept laa..
Jigga: What time did you get up?
Binx: Errmm.. 8.15 *wide guilty smile*
Jigga: Sempat mandi tak?
Binx: What do you think? *grins*
Jigga: HAHHAHahahahahHAHAHAHahahhaHAHAHHA

(Note: the laugh echoes until this day)

Oh well, luckily I managed to score a B+ on that paper. Maybe berkat tak shower kut.. *winks*

Report Cards and Mafia Dad...

I overheard Aunty Beast talking to her daughter yesterday about Friday being the kid's school open day. It is the day when parents are called to collect their children's report cards. Hence, she'll be taking the day off to do the same.

The mere mention of report card day brings me back to 1992, when I was still in form 2...

Being a small-sized girl back then (I was a late bloomer), I was always the target for the guys to pick on. They just love to bully me into letting them copy my homework, especially Math. Sitting in between 4 best friends does not help the situation at all. The four of them would usually drive me mad by pulling my hair from the back, making me listen to them singing all the karat and jiwang malay songs, poking my back with weird objects, to name a few.

As a defense, I kept telling them that my dad will shoot them if they ever pull my hair again (kids!). Hence, come report card day, I was wearing a smug on my face when one of the guys came running into the class..

U: Guys, Binx's dad is here.. And you guys better watch out.. He looks like a mafia..
A: Yeah rite.. I'm not scared..
S: *took a peek outside the classroom's window* I think you should be afraid..
A: Errkk.. yeah.. With the black suit and back-combed hair.. He does look like the godfather..
Binx: *rotflol and ran to greet dad*

be afraid.. be very afraid...

Since then the guys stopped bugging me (yeah rite..). They stopped the irritating poking larr.. However, the joke cracking never stopped. In fact, they started calling me the mafia's daughter..

U: Eh.. don't go making the mafia's daughter angry ok.. nanti dia report to her dad..

=====================================

I was going through all my files today and found the report cards folder.

Wow... flipping through the clear folder actually brings back lots of happy and funny memories. Imagine going through the report card you received since you were 5 years old till form 3. It was a self-discovery trip down memory lane. I can't even remember each and every subject I took when I was in Kindergarten. However, from the look at my grades - well, I did great as a 5 year old :D.

I did struggle when I was in primary school. I was never smart back then. I am not smart pun now *lol*. I guess I was too busy enjoying life to even bother about all the 'C's that kept appearing in my report card. Alaaa apa laa sangat 'C's for arts, pendidikan jasmani and music *winks*...

The best part about the student progress report was the student record card that keeps track on student's development. Remember the 'Apa saya hendak jadi bila saya besar' column? Haaaa... take a look at my ambitions when I was in standard 1 - 6.

Std 2: 1) Kerani 2) Guru 3) Doktor
Std 3: 1) Guru 2) Peramugari 3) Jurutaip *rotflol*
Std 4: same as above
Std 5: 1) Guru 2) Doktor 3) Peguam
Std 6: 1) Guru 2) Usahawan 3) Doktor Haiwan

What? No accountant? And 'jurutaip'? What was I thinking? Hahahaha... Sakit perut gelak...

When I entered secondary school, I guess I have made my mind to go into the accounting line..

Form 1 : 1) akauntan 2) peguam 3) doktor
Form 2: same as above
Form 3: same as above

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

binx: look.. i'm a jurutaip! all i do is type.. type.. type..

Yet Another Meme...

I didn't realise that I was tagged twice with this one, by Acat and Kiezamy.

Like always, here goes...

1) Total number of books I own:

If I were to keep track, I think I'd become a librarian by now. We were brought up in a family that loves to read, that we even have one room full of books back in our old house. Books from various genres filled the room, i.e. politics, autobiographies, poetry, literature, romance, teen romance, comics and many more. However, we've sold most of the books last year when we moved out from the house. All those books for just under RM50... What a ripped off...!!

2) The last book I bought:

The CIMA Study System: Management Accounting - Business Strategy
The CIMA Study System: Management Accounting - Financial Strategy
Fun eh... Well, I have to study kan.. Thus, I have to wait until December before I can purchase the next chicklit that I've been dying to read.

3) The last book I read:

The Family Way - Tony Parsons
It's the story about how 3 sisters go through their lives after their parent's divorce and how it has affected their love lives. Reading the book somehow got me thinking of how my own life will end up. Will me and my sisters end up like Cat, Jessica and Megan? However, like a typical Tony Parson book, the storyline is a tad bit draggy and slow. Wish he could add in more colors to the characters to make the story more interesting.

4) 5 books that mean a lot to me:

i. Paradise by Judith McNaught
It was the 1st thick, adult book that I read. Found it in my sister's room when I was looking for something to read in class after the PMR exam. At first, I thought it was really impossible for me to read such thick book. However, after few pages, I realised that I can't seem to put it down. The next thing I knew, I was curling up in bed, so absorbed in the Chicago corporate world romance of Meredith and Mathew Farrell. It is my favorite book by the author so far.

ii. Man and Boy by Tony Parsons
Read this book during my trip to one of the estates in Johor Lama during my training stint way back 2003. It kept me up most of the nights, despite the long days we had venturing into the oil palm estates. The story of a love lost and found and how the bond between father and son grew stronger amidst all the crisis they faced in the family.

iii. The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella
The great adventure of Ms Rebecca Bloomwood... Fun fun fun adventure into the mind of Becky, the shopaholic. From the 1st book where she was the financial reporter who knows nuthing about how to manage her own money, I grew to love the wacko yet loveable character. Her adventure in New York, her wedding preparations, her one year honeymoon, then her discovery of her long lost sister was a real page turner. There was never a dull moment whenever Becky's around... Can't wait for the release of the latest Shopie Kinsella's book..

iv. Love Story by Erich Segal
Discovered this old story book during the MRSM days. I remember crying till my eyes were swollen the next day. It is a very sad novel, written by one of the best author thus far. I wish I can get my hands on a copy of the book again. Maybe I should try and order it through MPH online..

v. The Sweet Valley series by Francine Pascal

These were the books that I grew up with. Starts from the Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High. I remember hiding in the school library, choosing which book to borrow for the day, every single day in primary school. Then walking in the hot sun to Jaya Jusco to buy the latest SVH book during secondary school. Those were the days when I dream to live the life of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield.. *lol* I wished I have kept the collection of books that I own to be handed down to my kids instead of selling it cheap to the 2nd hand bookstore last year *sob* *sob*...

5) Who am I passing this meme to:

None... But you are welcome to do it anyway... *winks*

binx: i want to read storybooks...!!

No Work Weekend....

I was planning to finish up my work over the weekend.. However, I ended up...

1. Staying up late on Friday nite, catching up with Lil Sis. She's back for the holiday and didn't stop talking since she set foot in my car when we picked her up at the airport. The girl kept on talking all the way through her supper, which was what she ordered even 2 days before she got back - cheese nan and chicken tandoori. We thought that 3 hours of talking was enough for her.. but instead she continued yapping away up until 3.30 am.... I ended up sleeping at almost 4 am that Saturday morning.

2.
Sleeping at 12 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Woke up early that morning because I had promised to go for breakfast with Syam and Nurul at La Bodega, Bangsar. I had to force myself out of bed and put on a cheerful face for breakfast. Luckily the breakfast spread was delicious as usual and the Hot Mocha did a good job at keeping my eyes wide open during the 2 hours catch-up session. However, by the time I reached home and caught a sight of my comfy bed, I just could resist to dive into the duvet and zzzz.... The next thing I knew, it was already 6 pm.

3.
In front of the TV for almost 4 hours watching the Akademi Fantasia concert. Yeah.. I've caught the fever. This has been my weekly routine since the 1st season of the show, 2 years back. heheehe...

4. Fixing my notebook's wi-fi connection. The connection doesn't seem to be working since Friday night. Hence, spent the whole Saturday and today trying to figure out what went wrong. I even tried comparing the setting with Mum's notebook's setting just to make sure that everything was in order. Someone even suggested me to give my notebook a little 'jentik'. The desperate Binx did everything that she think was possible to try to make it work, but to no avail. However, after hours of going through the content of the notebook, I found one menu that had managed to solve the problem - system restore. I just pressed the menu and set the system to be restored to the day before the problem started - Thursday... and tadaaaa.. I'm back on the virtual world... Penat aje trying to play around with the tcp/ip setting laa, etc etc..

I had a great weekend without even touching any of the files that I brought back. I know that it will cost me my time during the coming week, but heck it laaa... I am glad that I actually get to spend my time fully with my family and friends.

binx: happy father's day to all fathers out there...
