If you stumble upon a RM5 note on the street, let's say close to the entrance of an open air car park, would you...
a) pick it up and try to locate the owner, who might have ran because (s)he is late for work; or
b) pick it up and put it in your pocket; or
c) pick it up and passed it to the car park attendant; or
d) just walk away and do nothing?
Well, here's the story...
I have always been writing about my morning rush rite.. For the past few months, I have been very disorganised and was constantly tunggang-langgang. Hence, I kept losing the RM5 balance from the RM10.20 that I have paid for the RM5.20 parking fee.
The thing is, the parking attendant will always give me a receipt together with my RM5 balance. And I will always mistook the RM5 for the receipt and discard it on my way to the office building (dah kaya.. main buang-buang aje duit).
The first time I realised that I've dropped the RM5 was when a lady called out for me from the parking entrance. I was so surprised that the note could slip out of my grasp (but then I was juggling with my car keys, handbag, wallet and briefcase).
You would think that there will be no second time, RM5 is alot to be throwing it out just like that. Unfortunately, it happened again a few days after that. This time, I was the one that realised that I've dropped the RM5 note. However, as soon as I turned around I saw a guy picking it up and dropped it into his pocket! And he just walked off... as if nothing happened... ^@%^$^@$!##^%$&@...!
Once bitten, twice shy... On that note, I made it a point to check for my balance every time I pay the parking fee and made sure that the RM 5 bill is neatly tucked inside my wallet before I walked off to the office. I had dropped it a couple more times after that, but I managed to pick it up soon after.
Siapa tak sayang duit oi... Bak kata P.Ramlee.. rezeki.. rezeki...
So the next time you see a RM5 note lying around, think before you act... I might be behind a tree lurking around to catch you on the act.
binx: don't touch my money!

teruk btul that guy! despicable! to make it worse, i guarantee that he saw you accidently dropped it and yet...bbeerrrraaanni dia amik?! pi ketuk kepala dia.
finders keepers?
if I see someone actually dropping money, the obvious curteous thing to do would let that person know about it.
but if it's an empty lot, no one there, not a soul... I'd keep it. is that bad?
I think I always go for option (d). I just walk away and do nothing. Bukannya sebab baik sangat and it's not like I want my Mom to be so proud of me. But it's like I have this slightly childish idea that God is testing us. Takut la pulak nak ambik. He he
my policy is also finders keepers. but i add a few other rules on to that particular one - must spend immediately (retribution: bad luck if kept too long). do not buy food with it (retribution: cirit birit). heh.
