After almost 6 months of endless torture, I finally marched out of the exam hall last Thursday as a free man (temporarily until end of January when the result comes out). The feeling of joy that day was indescribable because:-
1) I just sat for the last paper for the whole program
2) The paper was better than the previous 2 that I sat for on Tuesday & Wednesday
3) I managed to 'goreng' fully for all 3 questions (apa yang digoreng, usah ditanya)
4) I was going to JB/Singapore few hours after the exam!!!
At first we planned to go back to Mom's hometown in Kelantan since we didn't get to go back for Raya due to my need to be around my books during that time. So, we've decided to go back to Kelantan and then stop over Terengganu for a night and then make a pit stop over Kuantan before heading back to KL. However, our plans had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain and flood in Kelantan.
Hence, after a quick re-arrangement, our plans were shifted 180 degrees to the south. Mom decided to go visit her friend in JB and treat us for a shopping spree in Singapore. I was already jumping up and down at the sound of "shopping spree". My friend in JB made it worse by telling me that the Singapore sale were crazy that prices were slashed by 50-70%.. Teruja gila bila dengar.
Our host in JB, Aunty M, welcomed us with an open kitchen (open arms) that night. We were greeted with senduk and kuali, as she is a co-restaurant owner of a very famous restaurant in Bandar Baru Uda. Me and Sis didn't even resist her offer to a scrumptious dinner. However, we had to resume our duty after that laa... ehem.. ehem (tune tekak).. Bibik nya terpaksa lah basuh segala pinggan nya selepas makan.. Mana boleh makan percuma saja kan.. Nasib baik bibik sudah di 'train' oleh ibuk ketika raya itu hari.. Maka semua pinggan nya di basuh dengan efficient sekali...
Our journey to Singapore started after the Friday prayers the next day. Since we brought 2 bags with us (to sumbat all the stuffs after our "shopping spree"), we didn't bother to take the bus due to the hassle. The cab conveniently took us to the taxi stand in Rochor. From there we took another cab to our hotel, right smack in the middle of Ochard Road.
We didn't even pause to rest. Soon after we stashed our stuffs in our room, we were off to roam the malls. Little did we expect to see no huge signs that reads "SALE", "50-70% on all items"... none... In fact the most that we saw was "20% off storewide"... And being the typical calculative women that we were, me and mom ended up not buying anything that day.. Everything were around the same price as in KL, but with a 'S$' in front.
Luckily the trip to the Night Safari made up for the earlier disappointment. This time Mom took a raincheck and decided to retire for the night. Instead, we were joined by Sis's friend, who has been in Singapore for almost 2 months. Both Kak Nora and I were 1st timers going to the safari. Hence, Sis played the role of a so-called guide for the night. It was actually a great tour and wished I had the strength to explore the tracks that were not covered by the 'tramp tour'. Well, maybe next time..

The next day was declared as "Hari Makan Day". We went to visit our 'tok sedara' in Geylang. It has been awhile since we last saw them. Tok Ami had prepared a special dish for us that morning, despite having to listen to him rambling like a broken record.. Tahan aje laa.. Orang tua.. His 'deep fried tiger prawns' are yummylicious I tell you (check out the pic below).. Managed to get the recipe out of the old guy.. Maybe will share it with you guys later.. Hahaha.. Hantam sajalah Labu...
Since there was nothing else to do and it was raining quiet heavily in the Lion City, we decided to head back early to JB. That night, we were served with more good food by our chef-host. Aunty M and Uncle H had prepared Laksa Johor! My favorite... I didn't bother to wait for the rest of the guest to start eating before pigging out on the laksa.. 2 full plates of Laksa... If I were to stay with Aunty M, I bet I would be able to gain the extra 10 kg that I've been asking for.
That was how I spent my 1st weekend as a non-student... Managed to squeeze in a quick movie - Harry Potter - tonight... Hmmm.. what else is there to do? Bring on the good storybooks, movies, races, concerts, theaters and etc... I'm craving for entertainment...
