Confession of an over-worked slave...

It has been a while since I've last updated.

I don't think it is too late for me to wish all muslims Selamat Berpuasa and if there is no update for the next few weeks, a Selamat Hari Raya as well...

As the title of the post says it, I have been slaving myself to work for the past weeks. Things just keeps on piling on my table.

(warning: this is the part where I shall rant about work)

I have to attend site meetings at the Bentong site every 2 weeks...

I had to rush for a last minute meeting with one of the Ministries.. only to find out that I have to prepare a business paper on my project and the submission date was within 2 days after the meeting!

I had to organise a buka puasa-do for the consultants for the project that I was handling...

I had to chase the finance people to pay the consultants that have been slaving themselves to make sure that the project is not delayed...

I had to be the project manager for an event that I would not be able to attend in December, as I will not be able to fly by then... (I have tried resigning from this position due to the unnecessary stress only to realise that my boss did not even read my resignation email that I had carefully sent to her!)

I had to prepare the annual budget for not 1 BUT 3 companies (or shall I say projects) that are under my supervision...

I had to prepare the costing and financial projection for a price negotiation with a government agency... and being bullied into doing more than what I was suppose to do.

I have to prepare for the upcoming Group Strategic Planning Retreat by the end of the month... There are still lots and lots of research to do....!

on top of all the things that are pending, I am now sitting at the Silver Kris Lounge in Changi Airport, waiting for my flight to Istanbul (via Dubai) to attend a 3 day meeting with a joint-venture partner.

*sigh*

I really don't know how I can cope with the tasks I have listed above, more so in my current condition. Thank God the pregnancy has been smooth for the past trimester (except for the raging hormones that makes me lash out to people easily).

I really hope that the baby will take after his mother in terms of being a multi-tasker (unlike his dad that can only concentrate on ONE thing at one time).... hehehe....

OK... enough complaining... Time for me to enjoy the food and maybe window-shop for a bit before I depart for Dubai...

Crossing the big three-O

So... yeah.. I have officially crossed over into another age group.

I can no longer tick the 20 - 29 box when filing in any forms....

How did I celebrate the coming of age?

By taking 2 days off work just to de-stress from all the impending crisis @ work. I made a reservation at my favourite spa and had a delightful cream bath head massage and a manicure! It was really the best treat I have had for a long long time.

Besides having to make a stop at the consultant's office in Ampang to sign off 30 urgent drawings and documents and one disturbing phone call from the office, my weekend was really a blissful one.

We had a quiet celebration at home this year, just the two of us. Next year, there'll be an additional tiny one joining us. I can't wait!

Kesian dia...

He spent the first half of his day being under house arrest today. He accidentally left his house keys in my car the night before and I just drove off to work with it this morning.

Luckily we just went grocery shopping the night before. Hence, he doesn't really need to go out to look for food. Plus, there were the leftover gulai ayam masak lemak cili api from last night's dinner in the fridge.

It was a coincidence that I had to attend a meeting at 3 p.m. at the consultant's office, which was just 5 minutes drive from home. So, I made a pit stop to drop off the key to him before the meeting - just in case he has the urge to smoke (yea.. I have a strict rule of no smoking in the house).

After the meeting ended (2.5 hour later), I gave him a call in order to let him know that I was on my way to pick him up to run some errands. The phone rang non-stop for 3 times!

Tertido ke pakcik nieh?

Ke tengah dalam toilet?

I parked the car and went up to check up on him and found him sitting outside the apartment, clad in his worn-off t-shirt and favourite kain pelikat, with a very weird smile plastered on his face...

"Why didn't you answer my call?"

"Huh? You called ke?"

I went to open the door only to find it locked.

"Laaaaaaaaaaa........ you locked yourself out ke?"

*rotflol*

hahahahahahahahahaha... (gelak sampai klua air mata)

Apparently he had gone out for a smoke about 30 minutes after I left and managed to locked himself out. The best part was that he had reheated the food and cooked some rice for lunch. He tought he would have a ciggie while waiting for the rice to cook. Last-last tengok nasi yang tunggu dia (for 2 hours) kat dalam rumah...

Kesian kat dia kan....

More reasons to be thankful for

Reason #1

As what I have updated in the previous post, we have celebrated our 1st anniversary last month. There was no big do for the day. We just had a bbq dinner with both families the night before, went for a movie & dinner on the day itself.

Yeah, boring eh... Maybe that's just the way we are. However, I really believe that it doesn't matter how you celebrate the day, it's the feeling that grew and continue to grow that's important.

To Mr Judge, thank you for choosing me as your life partner. I know I might not be a perfect wife, but I will try my very best to be a good one. I love you!

Reason #2

It is official. I have been promoted to Senior Manager!

The news was actually delivered to us (my colleague and I) a few months back. The Lady boss told us that she and Uncle Singh was pushing for us to be promoted because of our good performance and the responsibilities that we have shouldered over the last one year. Both of them believe that we deserved the promotion.

The Big Boss had approved the promotion (maybe he too realised that we have been involved in almost every major project/corporate initiatives for the past year).

Even though I am thankful for the upgrade in position and the extra $$$ that came along with it, I can't help but to feel a bit uncomfortable about it. You see, I work in a typical 'melayu' organisation where people just loves to gossip and talk about other people. Being promoted to Senior Manager within a year, while they still remain in their current position that they've been in for years does not make me very 'favourable' in their book.

I know I deserved the promotion. I have worked my ass off project after project and ridiculous datelines after another. Mr Judge could vouch for me as I've cried on his shoulder so many times over the last year, begging him to let me quit and just start my own goreng pisang business.

We'll just have to wait and see what's in store for me in the future. I have a feeling the work will be more demanding and the expectation will be set higher than before.

Reason #3

We have re-activated our search for a place to call home about 2 months ago. We have managed to get our financial standings in order and thought that it is just a perfect time to buy a house.

It didn't take us long to find a place that both of us like. It is actually just 5 minutes away from our apartment. A condominium unit on the 19th floor, overlooking a spectactular view of a green golf course! I get excited just thinking about the view... hehehe...

The loan has been approved, S&P Agreement signed, and now awaiting the developer's approval before we can get our hands on the keys to the unit. If everything turns out as planned, we should be able to move in before the baby comes in December. Insyaallah.

:)

Reason #4

I will be 5 months pregnant next week!

At first, the reality of it all did not really sink in for both of us. The stick says positive, the doctor says you are pregnant... so what? So I don't feel too good for a couple of weeks, but still... so what?

But when the black & white monitor at the gynie's clinic showed a tiny human being was actually growing in my tummy, everything just changed. As the picture on the monitor gets bigger and bigger during every check-up, we just can't pretend anymore. We are going to be parents soon!

The tummy's getting bigger by the day. However, people kept on saying that at 4 months, I don't really look pregnant, unless they look at the small bulge.

Now the only thing that both of us are looking forward to is to find out the sex of the baby. Is it going to be Binx Jr or Judge Jr. The baby had crossed its legs during our last check-up. So we'll just have to wait till the next visit to the gynie to find out!

An Update

I know I have been neglecting this blog for quite some time now.. It's due to the hectic work schedule... (yea.. yea.. blame the job)

Just an update before I have to leave for Lumut:

  • We have celebrated our first anniversary last Sunday. Time flies....
  • According to Uncle Singh, the Big Boss just promoted me one step up from my current position. One level up in a year? Cool!
  • I'm into my 2nd trimester already... 5 more months to go...
  • We've just signed our housing loan agreement last night. We have finally managed to buy ourselves a place to call home. Hope to be able to move in before the baby is due.

Will update more when I come back... Til then, take care!

of bitching, lying and resigning

We welcomed a new addition to our team 2 months ago.

The moment we sat down to have breakfast with her on her very 1st day, she had started bitching about the boss. She used to work with her long long time ago...

Imagine our surprise when she started to reveal stories bout the boss... gosh!

Her 2nd day, she bragged during lunch how she scolded the boss earlier for not being specific about something. She repeated the story around 4 times!

Soon after she started to dig stories about all of us... Maybe it was just her nature to get to know a person that way... I dunno...

Then we started hearing stories about her passing remarks about us...
... how she doesn't report to any one of us (coz she's more senior) so we should not instruct her to do anything (hello... we didn't 'instruct', we asked politely!)
... how she doesn't fancy her current roommate at the office
... how one of us is a bimbo coz she's an ex-stewardess
... how some of us are bossy
... how one of us is very tardy
... and many more

What makes it worse is that she can just walk into the bosses room and close the door behind them. It makes us wonder what transpires behind the closed door.

There was this one time when she left the room, she went to one of us and told her that how she rat on one of us.

REALLY!!!

Everything was fine and dandy before she came to the company.....

So, after all the above, it was just natural for us to avoid her totally. We tried our best not to get in her way during work... We avoided her during lunch...

Then you know what happened?

She went to the boss and told her that she felt sidelined by the team...

Just like a school kid!

To make the long story short, we decided to have a thrash out session with her. To confront her once and for all coz all these while we had just avoided the confrontation.

And you know what she did?

She lied through out the whole session! She twisted all the stories over and over that at the end of the day it all just doesn't jive. She even had the guts to say that one of us is the culprit for everything... That one of us was the one who created the whole tale!

OMG... How twisted can she be man...

We were nice enough not to shoot her down there and then. We just let her continue with her lies and let her go off thinking that everything was settled. She even said that after this she hopeto work together with all of us. We just ok'ed it.

That was last Friday.

And suddenly on Monday, she came to work all teary-eyed and handed in her resignation letter!

wtf laa kan...

I mean, if you tak buat salah, like you claimed to be, then why are you resigning?

Seriously!

Of course Mdm Boss did not accept her resignation laa kan... Instead she gave her a one week off to think things through....

Gosh... I seriously hope all this drama will end soon so that we can go back to normal. I seriously hate the office politics... I hate all the bitching and lying that has been going around for the last 2 months. It is really taking the toll on me.

Maybe she'll go ahead and resign.

Maybe then we can get back to the piling work!

All my clothes have shrunk!

I woke up one morning and found out that I can't fit into most of my work clothes...

I tried on 5 different outfits and none felt right. It's either too tight at the chest or waist area... It was so frustrating to not be able to fit in my favourite pair of pants...

I ended up wearing my 10 year old MNG drawstring wool pants... Thank God for drawstring pants!!!

Went back to my mom's place last week to curi some of her clothes (since they are mostly loose).

However, that doesn't solve all my problems just yet. I still have more shopping to do!

HELP!
