R.I.P.

Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rojiun...

Mom's uncle passed away after Zuhur today.

Tok Ayah Su was the closest person we had to a grandfather since our paternal grandfather passed away when I was around 2 or 3 years old and our maternal grandfather passed away way before my elder sister was born.

May he rest in peace. Al-Fatihah...

L.O.S.T.

I am an expert when it comes to hearing out people's problems and giving out advice. However, things are different when the situation is reversed.

I'M LOST!

So I guess I need to take some time off from everything. I need to think things through. I need to sort things out. I need to get a new perspective. I need to get away...

I'll be back soon... Maybe in a few days time... Maybe a little bit later than that. But I'll definitely be back!

Ada apa dengan Crocs?

My very first Crocs sighting would be when I started my teaching gig earlier this year. Most of the students seemed to be wearing bright colourful foam thingy on their feet... There is even one particular kid that wore a bright orange pair that matches his bright orange polo t-shirt and cap. So I thought it was just a new trend for kids...

Then when I went out to shopping malls, I realised that even adults were wearing that foam thingy too! Apakah nama benda itu?

A quick google search had led me to this website. The new haven for comfortable footware.

So what is so great bout the footware? Besides having a wide range of bright colours and designs, Crocs main selling point is its comfortableness. Try slipping your feet into a pair and you'll know what I'm talking about.

After spotting everyone in a Crocs (some of my students even have more than one pair each - yes their teacher takde keje duk checkout what colour of Crocs they are wearing each day.. hehehe...), I thought of getting one for myself. However, even before stepping into the new store in Ikano, I know I wouldn't be able to carry it off due to my flat feet. Kaki dah lar flat, perasan nak pakai bulky shoes plak... Memang nampak macam clown lar kan.

Of all the different styles that were on display in the store, I could only fit perfectly into this pair... Though it looks like any other sandal a.k.a selipar Jepun, it is super comfortable I tell youuuuu... I bet if pakai and jalan satu KL pun tak sakit kaki... hehehe.. ok I'm exaggerating there...

Mr Judge bought himself this pair after spotting a little kid during lunch that wore an identical mini version of it. Comel giler... (I'm referring to the kid k...).

So, what's your take on this new craze? You like....?

3 a.m.

Well yeah, it's 3 a.m. and I'm still wide awake... I've been having trouble sleeping for the past couple of days, which had made me a little 'off'.

What do I mean by a little 'off'?

  • I've misread the time and had caused us to arrive at our destination an hour ahead of schedule... Luckily we managed to find something to do to kill the time, if not for sure dah duduk melanguk aje... (Note to self: Wear only digital watches during 'off' days)
  • I got irritated with one of the students over some minor whiny-mengada act. I usually handle the situation expertly (chewah.. macam terror aje bunyik kan). However, I just can't tolerate her whines today and just pushed her away (basically malas nak layan lar).
  • I've managed to turn a chicken satay meat into a flying bird while trying to pry it out of its stick. Luckily, it flew back into the big dish of uneaten satays. If it were to fly across the restaurant, I SWEAR that I shall never show my face at that particular premise ever again.

Despite the funny moments and the good hard belly laughs, I really really need a good night sleep. I am exhausted... H.E.L.P.!

Binx... Binxie... Binxy Bunny... *urghhh*

What's in a name?
That which we call a rose...
By any other name would smell as sweet...

When people are attached, they tend to strip off their given name for pet names. I.e. sayang, baby, honey, darling, sweetie and etc. It's like a common practice to refer to each other with these terms of endearment.

Maybe it's just me, but I just can't seemed to fathomed the fact that some couples actually call each other "mummy-daddy" or ever "mama-papa" when they are still in the dating stage - note: WITHOUT kids... It's just so 'urghhhh'... Well that's just my take on it lar... I am sooo boring.. Yeah I know... hehehe...

What about you? Do indulge me on the terms of endearment YOU use to call your partner and vice versa...

Simple gesture goes a long way

When you know that you haven't been spending a lot of time with your family, just take an extra effort to prepare lunch or dinner for them every once in a while without being asked/forced to do so. I bet they would appreciate the gesture. I know my mom did...

During my almost 4 months teaching stint, I found out that by asking the students about their daily activities and school grades, they tend to open up to me even more. Now, they will look forward to tell me about their latest accomplishments in school, i.e. "Teacher.. Teacher.. Did you know that I got the highest English mark in my class? And I managed to get the no. 4 ranking for the last exam!" And like a proud parent (hahaha...) I would congratulate them and make sure to boost their spirit to score higher marks for the next exam. Apart from that, some even confided in me about their problems in school (ada yang ponteng sekolah for almost a month just cause he was afraid of the school teacher...). In my opinion, you can make a difference by just listening to them and encouraging them to push forward. And if you are lucky, like me, they'll bring you yummy candies every time they come for lessons *winks*.

Sometimes, highlighting something that is available is way better rather than emphasizing something that is not there. E.g. when someone put an extra effort to look good, just pay that person a compliment. That will definitely make his/her day. I've tried that a couple of times and it had put the person in a good mood and smiled the whole day long. Isn't that great?

Now, have a good day people...! Don't forget to smile ya...
