Confession of a weird Binx

I've been tagged by Cik Ubisetela. It has been a while since someone tagged me, since I never had time to answer all the tags before (while slaving myself for the Beast).

So, here goes nothing...

Rules of the game: Each player of this game starts out by telling 6 weird things about themselves on their own blog, as well as state the rules clearly. At the end, you will need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list out their names. After you do that, leave them a comment on their blogs letting them know you tagged them.

1. I check on my blog visitors' IP constantly (yeah, I'm a freak like that)... I don't know why, but I'm kind of curious as to who is reading my senseless ramblings day in day out. So, whenever there's a new reader on the block, I'll know... hehehe... Crazy, I know...

2. Whenever I eat rice with lauk, I would compartmentalise every lauk into it's own area (e.g. from left to right: chicken curry, omelette, vege (if any) and sambal belacan) . I don't like to mix it all in one horrible mess. My dad used to say that is because I am so used to eating with trays during my boarding school years where each lauk has its own compartment. That is why I really don't fancy eating nasi kandar, where they like to pile everything in one big, messy glob, and put each and every gravy in sight on the rice. Urrghh... The mamak at any nasi kandar stall will always give me a weird look whenever I tell them not to put any gravy at all on my rice... Sometimes they tak puas hati and insist on putting at least one type of gravy on it, to which I'll decline in protest. It's MY nasi.. let me eat it MY way lar kan...

3. I love to imagine about stuffs. Sometimes, my imagination gets so real and intense that I'll get confused as to whether it was just a dream or reality.

4. I like to 'muncung' when I'm in my deep thinking mode. It'll turn on automatically without me realising it.

5. I don't like vegetables. I'll pick them out, one by one, if they ever end up in any of my meals. However, I've never ordered anything without vege before, because any nasi goreng, kuey teow kung fu and etc. will taste weird without it. Hence, I'd rather pick them out of the dishes than eating a tasteless dish.

6. I can burp non-stop for more than 5 minutes at one go. I don't know how it happened, but I am just full of gas. Sometimes I'll combine my burping energy with Lil' Sis (who has the same 'gift') burp to a duet melody...

As always, the tag ends here...

Pursuing Happyness

Went to see 'The Pursuit of Happyness' last night. After reading the endless review about the movie, all I can say is that it is indeed one GREAT movie. Do watch it if you are the type that feels deeply about 'keeping the family together'.

All I can say is that if I were to have a dad like Chris Gardner, I would be the proudest daughter in the whole wide world. However, that would be far from the real world situation, considering my current circumstances.

Two thumbs up for the father-and-son duo, Will Smith and his son Jaden, for the superb heart-wrenching performance. They managed to make me cry more than once during the movie. Although, it is a known fact that I can get all misty-eyed and shed a tear even by watching a simple loving gesture of a father giving his son a hug while picking him up after the English Class. It's something that I haven't experienced for quite a long time now.

"Maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have it no matter what."
~ Chris Gardner

If what he said is true, then I guess I'll just have to keep on pursuing it. Because, I've had the chance to sample what happiness feels like last night, and like coffee, it is really addictive. I really hope that I'll be able to experience more of it in the near future. And I hope that the happiness that I am pursuing will be attainable because I BELIEVE it will be...

Things to smile about...

I have to face the fact that I don't have the most perfect set of teeth. I have been going to the dentist since I was young to get it fix. Even the doctor then, Dr. Paul, had asked me to promise him half of my dowry because he had done an extensive work on my teeth (senang cite: from jongang to not-so-jongang). He even kept the original mold of my 'jongang' teeth to show it to my future husband *lol*. I dunno if the mold or even the doctor is still around now though...

So, after years had passed without visiting the dentist, I had a major tooth decay that needed a major treatment. A ROOT CANAL treatment. For those of you that are familiar with the treatment, you should know the cost of such treatment here in KL... RM300 for one root.. and one teeth has 3 roots.. Which in turn will amount up to almost RM1,000!

Luckily, there's a family friend who works as a dentist with the government clinic. Hence, he had referred me to a specialist in Hospital Jinjang (yes, you heard me rite... JINJANG!). Apparently, this doctor is one of the best specialist in town and is one of the most sought after dentist. Her calender is fully booked through out the year since last December. However, since the doctor friend of mine is her colleague, he had called in for a special favour. And she had agreed to see me today.

I didn't regret having to wake up extremely early today and having to drive out to Jinjang, a place which I am not familiar with for an 8.30 a.m. appointment. I didn't regret having to wait for almost 40 minutes before I was called into the consultation room. I didn't regret having to endure a typical 'government service' environment through out the 2 hour session. Nope, I didn't regret it one bit. BECAUSE at the end of the day, when the bill was issued to me, I only had to pay RM8 ONLY!!! No, you eyes didn't play any tricks on you and there's no typo error or missing zeros in that figure. The whole drilling, root extracting, x-ray-ing, plastering and other dental mumbo-jumbo process only cost me 8 freaking ringgit...! Kalau macam tuh buat root canal hari-hari osso can... :D

Now, all I need to do is find a cheap private dentist to do the whitening/scaling treatment pulak. All those cups of yummy coffee are causing my teeth to stain. Sampai one of the students pun dah notice. "Eii... teacher, why your teeth so yellow one? But only the top one lar.. the bottom one still white one.."... Malu ok...

Here's another thing to smile about... Someone gave this to me earlier this week...

How cute is that?

The Invitation

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day,and if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

When it was just too late...

Last night, a grieving mother had told us of the story of her 17 year-old son's death. She was relating to us the gruesome episode whereby her son was killed in a car accident.

It was really heart-breaking to hear about his death from the mouth of his loving mother. It was even more heart-breaking when the mom related another story to us.

A girl had been sms'ing arwah's phone for the past few days. Finally, the mother had gathered the courage to reply one of the sms'es...

"You have been sms'ing my son's phone. I'm sorry to inform you that he had passed away "

Suddenly the phone rang, and the mother heard a shocked voice on the other end of the line. The girl called to confirmed that she got the right guy's number and got a shocked of her life to find out that the guy that she had had a crush on had died. The mother had ended up consoling the sobbing girl for over 20 minutes before she finally puts down the phone.

It's sad that the girl didn't get the chance to tell the guy how she feels. It's even worse when she had to find out about his death a few weeks after it happened.

So people, do tell your loved ones of your feelings for them. Cause, you'll never know when your time is up. By that time, it will be too late...
