Dance with My Father

Back when I was a child,
before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around 'til I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was loved

If I could get another chance,
another walk, another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
How I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again

When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me

If I could steal one final glance,
one final step, one final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
'Cause I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again

Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I'm praying for much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know you don't do it usually
But dear Lord she's dying
To dance with my father again

Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream

Went to Dad's house today... Lil' Sis wanted to say her goodbyes to our grandma and Dad (since he'll be leaving for Kuching the next day and won't be able to send her off at the airport this Sunday). It was our second time visiting his house since he left home. The first time we were there, things were a tad bit awkward, especially to see pictures of him and his new family scattered everywhere in the big house.

However, surprisingly today's visit was great. I mean, it wasn't as bad as the 1st one. We tried our best to keep things as normal as possible. Typical of Dad to assume that we'll be comfortable with his new wife and her family around. We just had to paste a sweet smile on our face and act polite. In fact, we were very polite that we've made our dad so proud of us.. (hah!)

As usual, I'll get all sappy inside whenever I see him. Can't help myself to always think of the good old days when the family was still together as one. The time when Dad used to come back from work and lepak with us girls in front of the TV. The time when he used to pluck his guitar to Broery Marantika's "Widuri" or Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven". Even the time when he was mad when he found out someone had doodled on his favorite jeans and had taken out his belt to wallop us, with me and Big Sis crying and shivering hard hiding under the dining table (it was not our doing.. we only scribble on walls and papers.. never on clothing materials.. especially Dad's).

That's my Dad. He can be sweet and charming, a woman's man, whenever he wants to be (especially when he sings laaa). However, when his temper erupts (which was quite often), just have to steer clear and let him be. I guess in many ways, I've inherited most of his qualities (everyone says so.. even though how hard I've tried to deny it). Most people even say that I look like him.. Where ever I go, people will always say, "You nieh anak Ron eh... You look exactly like him".. I tried my best not to disclose the identity of my father during my early days working with my current company (due to personal reasons). But I failed to do so because of 1) my name, 2) my face, and 3) those nosy HR people. Hence, I can't hide the fact that I AM his daughter (even though I've tried to do so countless times - especially during the critical times when I hated even the sight of him).

When he walked out on us in 1998, I've built a rift so deep that I thought I would never ever able to forgive him for what he has done to us. However, after thousands lectures from my uncle, other relatives and friends, I've tried to forgive him (but never forget). It was actually easier said than done, for I've seen through the whole episode when the family empire crumble into pieces. Thus, even though I've forgiven him I still can't shake and kiss his hand whenever we meet.

This went on until November 2003, while I was busy studying for my CIMA exam. It was during the holly month of Ramadhan. I took the opportunity of the holly month to do my part as Allah's humble servant to perform the Terawikh. One night, while I was at the mosque reciting my prayers, asking Allah to lighten the burden that I've carried so far and ease my path to success, a thought of Dad suddenly came over me. It is as if saying that if I want my future to be blessed by Him, I need to make my peace with Dad. I cried so hard that night thinking of what I have done, and how rude I have acted towards him all this while. It was not his fault that my family crumbles. I mean, maybe God has plans for each one of us. If it was not for the divorce, I may be very content with my life and not be the woman I am now. If it was not for the divorce, Mama would not have found the peace that she feels now and be much closer to God as she is now. If it was not for the divorce, Lil' Sis would not have been as tough and independent as she is now. Everything happens for a reason rite....

Hence, I've made my peace with Dad that year. He was very happy about it indeed. Sent me numerous sms'es wishing me luck for my exam and all. He will always be the Dad that I've known. The one that does not actually know how to show his love except to lavish us with material stuffs. Either way, he IS my Dad and will always be my dad, no matter how hard I try to deny that fact.

The only thing that I regret is that he was not in my life when I needed him the most. He was not there to watch me go out with my 1st real boyfriend. He was not there to share my joy when I scored the highest mark for an exam. He was not at my university graduation to see me get up the stage to collect my hard-earned scroll. He was not around for me to consult on my future plans. He was not around to brief me before my very 1st job interview.. The bottom line is.. he was never around.

However, I am thankful that he is trying his best to be there for Lil' Sis. I hope that Lil' Sis will appreciate his gestures and effort. I know I would, if only I could turn back time...

When Mrs. Wacko Meets Mr. e-d

Finally met up with Mr. e-d after he came back to M'sia today. However, it was a total mistake to introduce him to Mrs. Wacko, cause now they've formed an ally against poor old me.. :(

The double team had poked fun at me from various angles.. started from the "Badul" joke to the scary-like fingers.. My oh my.. Luckily we were having our teh tarik at a very public area with people within the ear shot. If not.. both of them would have received some blue black marks frm the kung-fu fighting Binx (background music: woohooohoohooo.... everybody wants kungfu fighting... huh! )

On a positive note.. I got my boots today *yeay!* A Tommy boots from Mr. e-d.. Traded it with the Alias season 3 boxset.. hehehehe.. Thanks Eddie.. Have tried it on and it fits well.. Sorry laa to cause you trouble to go and change the size cause I tak didn't hear all your 21 missed calls that morning (Binx nieh kan tido mati.. )

The boots had actually caused a commotion from the table behind us.. 1stly if it's not because of Mr. e-d's smart move on giving me the pair of boots in "plastik rok-rak" or "supik jabir" (klantan speak).. those people behind us wouldn't have caught the glimpse of my brand new boots.. But no.... he had to put it in the undersized plastic bag laa kan..

Hence, the guys behind us was actually checking it out while we were enjoying our laughs laa kan. When we were about to leave, with Mr. e-d rushing off fast to meet his date and Mrs. Wacko went to pay the bill, one of the guy actually stopped me and ...

Baldy: "Excuse me, excuse me... excuse me...."
Binx: "Hmmm... yeah?"
Baldy: "I can't help but to notice your boots there.. Can I have a look at it?"
Binx: "Hmmm... sure.."
Baldy: "Cool boots... lawa nya.. where do you get it from..?"
Binx: "Oh.. my friend bought it for me from the States.. "
Baldy: "Ouwh.. I thought it was a man's boots... I love boots.. that's why I stopped you.. coz I wanted to ask where you get it from.. Plus, my friend here is interested to get to know your friend back there..."
Binx: (wah... sambil menyelam minum air tuh) "Ouh really... Eddie..? The guy?" (giving them a funny face)
Baldy: "No.. no... the girl in blue... He's interested.. So I thought I could ask for your number and give you a call later to find out more about your friend on behalf of my friend here.. He's very shy.."
Binx: (took a glimpse at the shy friend...eeewwwweeee...) "Errrmmmm... I'm so sorry laa k.. but my friend's married"
Baldy: "Ouwh really...? Auww man... sorry bro.. I tried.. Anyway, it was nice meeting you... I didn't get your name... Mine's Wan.. Hope to see you again.."

Waaaaaaaah... Even at mamak stall also people can do that ahh..? Oh well.. At least Mrs. Wacko knows that her share is still high in the market.. muahahahha..

Binx: hmmmm... the baldy was not bad at all actually.. *winks*

TGIF

The day had begun in a good note. As I've updated in my last post, I woke up early that day and finally arrived at the office earlier than the rest of the staffs *yeay!*. Hence, was in a jovial mood all day. Even the trip to the previous subsidiary that I've served did not deter my spirit. I actually got to spend some time in the car (on the way to the subsidiary co. in PJ) with my boss, trying to get to know more of her, outside from our usual boss-staff relationship.

My mood were so high that I've finally called and asked my ever-so-poyo colleague out for coffee. It has been awhile since I've last saw him. And it felt good to let out my steam for what had caused us to drift apart. Even though I know I was being hard on him.. but he needed the push and according to him, he has finally realised his poyo-ness (thanks to his buddy) and trying to change for the better.. There is a god... hehehe..

Hot Hot Hot Saturday

I was already up and about by 8am. Was already queuing up at the Toyota service center by 8.15am.

Binx: "How long will it take you to get it done?"
Mr. X: "Oh.. usually for 10,000km it will only take awhile.."
Binx: "Ok.. if that's the case, I'll just wait inside"
Mr. X: "No problem.. We'll be quick.."

I actually get to read The Star from cover to cover that day. At 10a.m my car was still not ready.. and I was fuming mad.. I didn't realised that it'll take them that long. Plus, I have promised to be at Ejan's early to be her unofficial camera lady. One look at the place where they hung the car keys that are serviced tells me that it was gonna be a very long wait. Hence, had taken matters into my own hand and started to pester the kakak at the reception desk.

Binx: "Kak, kereta saya tak siap lagi ke kak? Dah lama dah nieh. Saya kat sini dari pukul 8 tadi"
Kakak: "oh ye ke dik? Hmm.. kereta adik nya plate apa?
Binx: "W** 9***, lama lagi ke kak?"
Kakak: "Hmmm.. lama laa dik.. nieh 10,000km nieh.. selalunya lebih 3 jam"
Binx: wtf....!!! "tapi mamat tadi cakap sekejap.. Mana boleh macam nieh kak.. Saya dah lambat nieh.. Kawan saya nak kawin hari nieh.."
Kakak: "ok ok... relax dik..."
Kakak: "MAN!!!! cepat siapkan adik nieh punya kereta.. dah lama dia tunggu..."

15 minutes later I was driving out of the service center, thanks to the nice kakak..

=============================

I couldn't make it in time to Ejan's place to taste her mum's delicious laksa johor (my favorite..... yummy..). By the time I reached home it was already close to 11 and the entourage was pushing off from Shah Alam at 11.30. Hence, decided to convoy with Mrs. Wacko and hubby instead.

The weather was really hot that day and it matches my mood at that time. But the mood had subsided once I stepped into Mrs. Wacko's car to wait for the wedding entourage to arrive. Mana tak nya... ada aje crazy stories from her that makes you explode in laughter..

The reception was great. All decked in green (luckily it was not ALL green as you've expected, Jan). And the food was great, judging from the rate Mrs. Wacko was helping herself to the spread in front of her*winks*. The bride and groom looked great as usual... (check out the updated fotopages).

On our way back (Mrs. Wacko had to ride with me since she was ditched by her hubby), Mrs. Wacko actually burst into laughter when she saw my long fingers. I don't know what came into her, but she was laughing like mad at the sight of my long skinny fingers (she's wacko for sure!)

Binx: "Eh you, don't you think I've put on a little more weight?"
Mrs. W: "Hmmm.... yeah.. especially visible on your cheek, as usual..... And your fingers..... My god Ja.. your fingers... hahahahhahahhahhaha"
Binx: "What laaar soo funny bout it?"
Mrs. W: "It looks so scary.. So long and skinny.. Like Golumn's.. you know the beast in LOTR.. my precious... hahahhhahahahhaha"
Binx: "wtf laaa.... hey... You nieh takde keje lain ke... Girl.. stop the irritating laugh laaa....!!!!" *dush* *dush* *dush*

I dropped her off at her house with few bruises on the arms and body parts... sorry Mrs. W... Well... you asked for it gurl....

A Neverland Sunday...

Watched Finding Neverland today. It was truly an enchanted movie. It was so moving that I was actually caught up with the whole thing. Johnny Depp was truly good in the movie and Kate Winslet too.. However, I especially love the kid, Peter (Freddie Highmore)... the serious character that he played was very very good.. excellent act from the kid. Now, I'm looking forward for his next movie... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a movie based on the very famous children book (I know Joe will love this movie... like he loves the entire book collection).

The rest of the day was spent cleaning up the room... Need to get my study space ready.. Will have to start studying soon if not later. Penat... had to haul the heavy vacum cleaner up.. then the air humidifier pulak.. hmmm.. but the result was.. a clean room... beh nyaaa tido mlm nieh...

Binx: will have to get wardrobe organised next...

O'Mighty Clock....

O'Mighty Clock on the bed... Please.. please.. please wake me up early tomorrow morning.. Don't let me sleep in till 8.. I've been late everyday this week.. That's bad O'Mighty One.. Not good at all. I can't be seen by Uncle Dan coming in late (which nearly happened this morning if not for my quick moves...) not during these crucial moments when my increament is at stake... Hence, I beg that your LOUD ringer will pull me out of my slumberland every morning from this day forward.. till your death do us part.. *lol* Posted by Hello

Binx: great attempt at publishing the 1st photo I took with my brand new digital camera *winks*

Here's to a healthy start...

Since I've been having insomnia lately, I've decided to do some exercise after work.. I used to do the same thing during my uni years, when I suffered from the same disease (the case was even worse coz it was exactly after my parent's divorced). I actually made myself walk around the whole of TTDI every single evening without fail. The result: peaceful sleep every night.

Hence, I'm going to start the whole routine again. But this time it'll be somewhere near the office. There's no point of me rushing back home in the traffic, it'll only increase the stress level aje. Thus, had made plans with my buddy to start our new routine in central KL itself (if not we usually either hangout at Pelita or Starbucks KLCC while waiting for her husband to finish his gym session).

It had been ages since I've last worked-out. Everything (my gears) are scattered around the house. Plus, since we've just shifted to a new house, most of my things are in those boxes under the stairs or up in the attic. So, I'll just have to make do with what I have at hand....

Binx's checklist:

  • running shoe - checked (haven't wear it since came back frm OBS)
  • running pants - checked (the ones I wear every time my relatives sleeps over)
  • t-shirt - checked
  • towel - checked
  • socks - checked (petaling street mali.. 3 for RM10.. )

Binx: hope the weather will be clear tomorrow....

Back to the office!!

It was a holiday yesterday for KLians due to hari wilayah.. and I thought I could sleep in for the whole day (typical Binx's activity what...). However, had to accompany Lil' Sis to Low Yat to buy all her techie gears to be used in Perth. Our first stop was the camera shop.. At first I was telling myself to keep self focused on things to look out for Lil' Sis and not deviate away from plan (cause like I've mentioned in my previous post... I've burst my budget for last month.. hence, am trying to cover it for this month - feb).. BUT... something had caught my attention and I fell in love with it at the 1st sight.. Luckily the shop didn't have HSBC credit card in their easy installment scheme list. If not, I'd be a proud owner of the Canon IXUS digital camera by now.. Oh well.. I've made a mental note to call Ejan soon and apply for a RHB credit card.. just so I can buy the sweetie.. *winks*

Next, we went up to the handphone floor where you'll be blinded by all the latest handphone in the market. Mummy wanted to get herself a new handphone.. Since all her 3 daughters now are using Samsung flip phones she's been hinting that she too needs a new phone - preferably as canggih as ours laa kan.. hahahaha.. Mama..Mama.. But for sure if she owns a canggih phone pun she wouldn't know how to use all the features available pun kan.. (like someone else I know.. *hint hint*).. Thus, what's the point of getting an expensive phone and not put it to full use?

Back to Lil' Sis's hunt for tech items.. She was looking for an iMac laptop but there was no Mac store there. People she knows recommended the brand cause it's well known to be compatible for designing purposes. However, a Sony Vaio did catch her attention and she was trying to reason out why she should get the Vaio instead of the iMac.. Wah... kids nowadays.. Didn't even pause to look at the price of the laptop.. Pengsan tau Mummy lepas nieh..

Our hunt ended with Sis buying only 100 blank CDs, an MP3 player (to record her lectures) and a thumb drive.. that's it!! And it was all done in 3 hours!!! Oh yeah, I bought a Alias DVD box set for Big Sis's friend in South Africa, plus 2 other movie DVDs - closer (jude law!!) & finding neverland (johnny depp!!).

We had our lunch at the famous Bukit Bintang Hainan Chicken Rice shop.. It was simply delicious.. It has been years since I've last been there.. The last time was with my fellow management trainees colleagues during our stint at the Royale Bintang hotel. Anyway, the chicken rice was great.. especially the chicken soup (they added ground penuts in it... yummy) and the kerabu mangga were to die for.. The only place that I've tasted a delicious kerabu mangga was in Hadyai, Thailand (have to find a recipe for it laa). Hence, it was a melantak session for me and crew.

A new month now.. How time flies.. We're now into our 2nd month of the year. Lil' Sis will be leaving for Perth soon.. Will miss her for sure.. Who am I gonna bully to wash Ash's poo poo now if I am too malas to do it myself? Who's gonna teman me on my shopping expeditions? Who's gonna be my fashion conslutant? Who's gonna buat muka seposen when wanna ask for favours frm her sisters? Hmmmm.......

Binx: still am pissed for not being able to join the family trip to Perth...!!
