It's nothing personal, it's business...

I've just finished watching The Apprentice result show on tv. It was the 3rd season and finally the final contestants are females. Go girl power! (hehehe). There was no doubt that Bill Rancic and Kelly were indeed clear winners from the start. However, that was not the case for the 3rd season's finalist.

Between Tana and Kendra, I can seriously say that Kendra deserved to win the game due to the leadership style that had inspired her workers. Nevertheless, if Tana had treated her workers well, I would say that she had an equal chance of winning the job too.

The way Tana handled the whole thing during the final task was really disappointing. When I found out that she was one of the finalist, I was actually rooting for her to win. Finally, an underdog gets to show that she too can survive the corporate world. However, she showed some very unprofessional attitude during the whole task that really was uncalled for. In my opinion, she could have addressed the matter in a better way rather than belittling her workers that way.

On the other hand, the way Kendra performed through out the game shows that she was truly capable in handling the challenges being thrown her way. The way she strategised the project/sales has indeed shows how smart she is in targeting her idea through. Even though she was being pushed by Craig for the final half of the show, she managed to rise up and shine her way through it. And that was indeed a superb move on her part.

Looking back at the Kendra-Tana's situation, it seems to show that people management is the key to a successful business. How many of you believe that that is true? I, for one, have to agree with Kendra's management style. According to her, she loves to inspire her workers in order to get them to believe in her and in turn join in her dream to see the project through. I have always believe that being able to communicate with your colleagues/subordinates is one step closer to achieving your goal. Furthermore, gaining respect from them would be an added key that can push it all the way through the finish line.

I have been a huge fan of the show since the first season. Watching those people go through the tough job interview really drives me to think that with great determination anything is possible. All you need to do is just to generate those determination through the right channel to keep you on track.

What do you think?

Out you go.....!

My work PC has been giving me problems lately. Actually, ever since I got it last year.

Being a very traditional company, my company don't believe in upgrading PCs until it no longer works. In other words, until it goes kaput laah. Hence, when I was transferred back to the main office, I had to choose between a very old PC and a not-so-old-but-still-outdated one. So of course I picked the latter, which was actually used my former MT colleague who has left for a greener pasture.

For the last few days the PC has been throwing tantrums. It keeps changing windows on its own. Imagine you are busy preparing a template when out of the blue the screen just changed to another window; be it your internet explorer or email window. 1 time ok lagi, 2nd time sabar lagi.. after the 4th time it just gets to me.

I spent the 1st half of the day on Monday just to clear off my hard disk (not that my files occupied that much space pun). Deleted all the temporary Internet files, deleted all the unwanted files, and even defragmented the hard drive. Nevertheless, things still remained the same. It still took me 20 full minutes just to start-up the PC, and another 10 minutes to open up my Outlook window. That does not include the hassle that I have to go through while working on my spreadsheet, with over 1000 linkages to other worksheets. Urrggghhh...

The climax was yesterday when Uncle Dan suddenly came over asking me to ammend his presentation powerpoints. He needed it to be done urgently and asked me to emailed it to an analyst. Changing the slides was no problem. However, things just went bonkers when I pressed the send button on the Outlook.. Suddenly the PC goes.. "kreeekkk kreeekkk kreekkkk krekkkk..". It took me a full 20 minutes just to send it across and another 30 minutes to retrieve an error message that the mail didn't go through.. Arrgghh.. By that time, Uncle had already left the office and I was 15 minutes late for class.

Now I really wish I could do this...

or this...

Either way, I'll be very satisfied.

"I need a new PC!"

Untitled

I thought that I've cried enough tears ...
However, why does it still keep flowing out of my eyes?

The wound that I thought had healed..
Had suddenly been unravelled.
Why must I be so emotional?

However, crying over it suddenly made me feel good again..
It goes to show how deep the impact was on me..
And how I've had emerged out of it..
As a better person...

Binxology : A Meme...

20 years ago, 1985

Lil' Binx started her 2nd year of Kindergarten. Very imaginative as always. Kept bringing back toys, books, etc. from school saying that the teacher gave it to her. Performed in the school's concert, part of the traditional dance group:- dancing to the tunes of "Kenek-kenek Udang". Got herself 5 stitches on her head when she fell and hit a longkang at home. Hence, part of her head was shaved during the ordeal and had caused her to cover it with her hand throughout the day at school (*malu*). Oh yeah, the family moved to a bigger house within the same area where she spent almost all of her young life growing up.

10 years ago, 1995

Got accepted to continue my studies in MRSM Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu. My first experience living out of the hustle and bustle of the city and actually fell in love with the whole thing. Definitely one of the best years of my life. Met my current best friends there. Went for a camping trip at the Sekayu waterfall and experienced the tough jungle activities, i.e. cross the belukar full of selut, got bitten by lots and lots of pacats, kena baling with taik lembu (cow dungs) by the facilitators and many more. I came to know that there was actually an addiction to cow dungs, besides the usual drugs and glue (no kidding!). Learnt a few hulu t'gannu words like lebong (lie). Had my first taste of ice cream goreng near Pantai Batu Buruk. Missed a very important event for a family member because was stuck in school. Luckily he came through and I only managed to convey my congratulations through the phone.

5 years ago, 2000

2nd/3rd year of university. Was living in Serdang, near the uni. Went to Japan for Kak Nor's graduation with Lil' Sis, Mum, and a family friend and her daughter. It was a fun trip, though it was a total contrast to our first trip there back in 97. All 6 of us cramped in Sis's small room in Fukushima, with me sleeping on the floor with my feet close to the kitchen stove (that was how small the room was). Got to play in the snow (1st time), visited a hot spring resort (didn't take a dip though cause was not comfy to bare it all.. hehe), was forced to swallow raw fishies (poor tummy), and got to see the sakura blooming in Tokyo (first touch of spring).

3 years ago, 2003

Started my 1st job on the 2nd of January. Was part of a Management Trainee program that got to visit most of the subsidiaries of the big sleeping giant. Had my 1st experience living on an estates and witnessing the life of an estate worker. Befriended Adil, Gina, Elaiza & Cheryl and went on lots and lots of adventures with them. Attended the OBS in Lumut that year and had survived the 5-day challenged full of hard peddling, spirit boosting, monkey shoo'ing, and friendship bonding. Got transferred nearer to home in the 2nd half of the year. Hence, had the luxury to wake up at 7.45 am and still arrived at the office by 8.30 am.. hahaha.. It was a total bliss... Sat for my 1st CIMA exam in November and managed to clear it by 1 mark above the boderline (phewh!)

Last year, 2004

Went for a final all-girls road trip to Pangkor after my exam. It was the last trip we went as singles before both of my darlings tied the knots. Failed all my 3 CIMA strategic papers for the May sitting (*sob* *sob*). Bought my 'Love' in June after contemplating about it for a few months. Mrs. Wacko got hitched in August and we drove up all the way to Penang to witness the memorable ceremony. Ejan got engaged in September. Experienced a huge crush for someone only to experience an excruciating heartbreak after that. Befriended Kidd and had lots of adventures in Starbucks with the guy. Started the 'confessions' blog in December after I've sat for my November exam (cleared 1 out of 2 papers).

This year, 2005

Ejan got hitched at the beginning of the year - lovely wedding!. Didn't get to send off Lil' Sis to Perth in February because of the stoopid auditors (urgh!). Forged friendship with wonderful people in the bloggersphere. Jigga got hitched in March and will be expecting a Jigga Jr next January. Got the freaking news of the transfer to hell.. Currently working under the Beast, doing consolidation for the group (a madman's job). Had been succumbed to late working hours and long weekends in the office for the past 6 months. Went for a company trip to Awana Kijal and had a blast (despite the fact that I lost my Samsung mobile at the beach). Went for an Umrah trip with the family in May. Got promoted to Assistant Accountant in July and currently gearing up to complete my final 3 papers in November.

Next year, 2006

Hopefully I'll become one of CIMA passed finalist by March (insyallah) if not by the end of the year. Insyallah will be carrying the 'Accountant' title by the end of the year with an ACMA stamped on my name card. Will launch my cafe project by then and try to explore the business world further. If everything works exactly the way I planned it to be, then I'll get my chance to do some travelling - 1st stop will definitely be Perth to visit Lil' Sis and then it will be London!!

Ten years from now, 2015

Married to a great guy with lil' binxy juniors trailing about. Will be busy running the cafe by then. A headline in one of the mags will read "Young Charted Accountant turned Dynamic Lady Entrepreneur Launch New Cafe Outlet" (cue cheers: *hooray!*).

Now the meme shall be passed on (for the fun of it) to my regular visitors: teek, mr. king (if he has time-off from his 'everyday-is-monday' day) and 3six7.
Tagged! You're it...

Zzzz............

Sleeping has been my all-time favorite pastime ever since I could remember. Oh what a total bliss to be tucked in bed, underneath the duvet, dreaming away in la-la land.

My sleeping do's:-

1) I have to have 2 head pillows, 2 throw cushions and my fav bolster (bantal busyuk)
2) I dun like to sleep in an air-cond room.. unless it's really really HOT
3) Next to my pillows, I need to have my handphone and wrist watch
4) My usual sleeping time would be after 12 midnight
5) I love to sleep curled up like a ball, hugging my bolster and the cushions..
6) I usually read (a few lines pun jadi laa) before I sleep
7) Light music

zzzz.....

I like to think that I am not a 'lasak' sleeper. Errmm.. Maybe I am, only on sleepless nights though. I know this because I once shared a single bed with a friend and I noticed that I woke up in the same position the next morning.. Control.. hahaha

Anyway, after watching Macam-macam Aznil on Astro Ria tonight, I was brought back to my childhood days when we used to play one silly game that goes like this...

"Mentadak mentadu macam mana (insert name) tido?"

This game used to be played using a Mentadak (Praying Mantis) that is locked inside a bottle. A person would ask the insect to immitate another person's sleeping position. Being known as the insect that loves to pose, the mentadak would hold a pose and the people around would have a good laugh at it. Hmm.. What's so funny about the game? Ermm.. dunno laa.. It's just funny laa.. The best part is that the smart mentadak will hold different poses after each question. Funny laaa..

Have you ever played the game?

So, what are your sleeping do's and don'ts?

This is the best sleeping position ever!!

this one too..!

Have you ever faced a similar situation?

*munch**munch**yawnsss* zzzz....

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Arrrgghhh.....!!!

I am just so angry at the world today. There's this pumped up feeling of hard-rage anger that seems to have taken over the control of my brain. What was I angry about? So many things...

1) I hate it when we have a public holiday in the middle of the week. It just meddles with the momentum that you have build-up since Monday. Hence, today had been a slow day for me...

2) I hate it when people kept on asking me the same question over and over again, even after I've answered them the 1st time around. Urrgghh.. It is just so damn irritating... If I said "no, thanks", it means "no, thanks" laa.. You don't have to push it. I know you are trying to be nice, but I don't need your help.

3) I hate it when someone kept on doing the things that irritates me, even though after I've made it clear to that person that I can't stand what (s)he does. When I said it gently, you thought that I was playing around with you. When I smiled, you thought that I didn't mean what I've said. Urrghh.. And when I gave you an irritating angry look (after you've repeated the same thing countless times), you said that I'm a bad-tempered person..

4) I hate it when someone asked me "Bad mood ke?" when it was plain clear that I AM in a bad mood. Even when I made it clear to that person that I am not in the mood to kid around and crack silly jokes, (s)he just could not digest that fact well into his/her head. Instead, (s)he made it a point to add up to my misery for the entire day! What did I do to deserve this...

5) I hate PMS!!!

A pit stop at Starbucks after work had managed to cure the anger. After the grande Mocha Rhumba Frapuchino, everything went back to normal. Now I'm my happy cheerful self...
:D

burrrppp...
